Engine compartment cooling observation
Laz - Tuesday, 28 August, 2012, at 7:06:21 pm
I don't recall the 986 having two speeds for the engine compartment fan, and don't know if the 987 had it, but I just observed the recently shut off car running the fans (yes, one per side* for the 981) running fast, then going into a slower mode after a couple minutes.
*And for those who didn't know, there are now two combustion air intakes. The lower segment on each side is for cooling. Logical in two ways, in that the intakes are of course at the top of the motor, and there's less chance of pulling water or junk into the engine.

SilverBox a 2008 987 does have a variable speed fan on the starboard that does kick in with the car shut off if necessary.
