2001 Boxter S convertible top problem
Devo - Wednesday, 19 September, 2012, at 2:52:01 pm
I had a problem lowering the top to the open position it stopped about half way. I checked the cables going into the motor near back of the roof. I discovered that the cable had broken on the driver side. I was able to remove this and replace the cable. Driver side transmission had to be removed. I reinstalled the driver side transmission and cable then the roof went up fine. But when I tried to lower the roof again I did not get the window drop of 4" and the motor just ran about 3 seconds and roof didnt move. Now I need to be able to get the roof down so that I can check this out. I can get at the cables behind the seats with a portable drill but the driver side seems to do nothing. Is it possible that when I reassembled the cable transmission and "batwing" part that I turned this past where the gears are in the transmission? The top did go up however. Anyone know whats going on here?
