Transmission Mounts
mnchstrcityblues79 - Friday, 30 November, 2012, at 8:23:39 pm
Hey gang, quick question. I need to replace my transmission mounts and want to go the route of replacing just the mount as opposed to the entire bracket with mount (looking to save some money). Another site suggests that part no. 993-375-049-05 mount is functionally equivalent to the OEM part. However, a quick internet search reveals that this part is a engine mount.

Further, the "993" mount is suggested because the OEM mount is not available w/out the bracket. However, the aforementioned site now sells part no. 986-375-049-02 which appears to only be the mount and not the bracket as well (and much cheaper).

So it comes down to this: which part should I be looking for? 993-375-049-05 or 986-375-049-02?

I am so confused.

PS: 2003 986 5-speed

Thank you!

Maybe you should take a look at 986-375-084-03. It sounds like what you are looking for but I don't know how it differs from 986-375-049-02.

That appears to be the mount w/ bracket; I am looking for just the mount.

... 993 part number.
The 993 used it as a motor mont and the 986 uses it as a tranny mount, but it's the same part.

The Boxster part number is an assembly which includes the bracket and the hydro-damper.
The 993 part number is just the hydro-damper.

FYI
I purchased the mounts from Pelican and found the holes for the (2) bolts that attach the mount to the body were undersized for the bolts.Since I am the second owner and the trans has been removed prior to my purchase, could be the incorrect bolts were used on reassembly. Not a big deal just drill out as required there is plenty of material in this area.
