Re: 2003 Boxster Rear Spoiler-Top revisted

A while back I told the story of coming out from work to find that someone had attempted to remove the spoiler-top from my Boxster

Sad days, I thought I was out several hundred dollars until Pedro informed me that I need only replace the spoiler-top.

Well this is where my dilemna has really developed.

Apparently, up through 2002, Porsche utilized a spoiler-top that used expanions rivits to affix the top to the spoiler. 986.504.609.01

However, in 2003, Porsche began utilizing a spoiler-top that used tension clips to "clip" the top to the spoiler. 986.504.609.02

The pre-2003 tops are plentiful used whereas the 2003 (and up) are not plentiful and hard to come by.

Does anyone know if the pre-2003 part is compatible with 2003 and beyond models? A quick look at the rear-spoiler bracket reveals that there are "holes" that might be used with a expansion rivet.

No. It will not work. Look at the shape of the pre 03 cars and you will see that they will not fill the space of the 03 and later.
