What Santa could bring

Someone referred to the nada site on another forum and so I thought I'd fantasize a bit.

My car as configured listed for around $92k, invoice was $82k. But what got my attention were their "cost to own" figures for the car. Based on keeping the car 6 years: $22k in the first year based on 15k miles/year. Then $11k for the next two jumping to $14k after the warranty runs out.

Eye opening.
Which is why i like my used cars.

Interesting ones. That's i'm not afraid to spend some cash on, making them either better or to my taste.

My cars typically cost me between 2-4500 annually, with depreciation and repairs (but not gas or insurance)

Their figures included gas, insurance, licensing and taxes. The last being another big reason to like a "pre-owned" car.

My Boxster cost $3.5k a year by your figures but that was with best case reliability and best possible preventive maintenance (and doing dumb things like buying PS2s 500 miles before I sold it).
