987 instrument cluster needs adjustment
chrismmm - Saturday, 5 January, 2013, at 3:17:45 pm
Hey Guys,

I dont post alot but would like to ask opinions on whether I can adjust this myself. Detail follows:
2007, 987, Base model, normal instrument cluster, red face with white numbers/letters.
The cluster is fine to look at and use in daylight but the night time viewing it appears to me as though it has shifted enough to make the numbers unreadable at night on the speedometer. so much so that i can not tell what the speed is reading from the left instrument. Thoughts, recommendations? Thanks for any response.

Turn it clockwise a few degrees and hold it there to brighten the instruments.

Could be a blown bulb in that instrument, too.

It sounds like ...

... the face plate has detached itself from the cluster.
When that happens, it moves slightly and won't let the backlight through without distortion.
I've repaired a few of these before.
It's not brain surgery, but patience helps a lot.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

Wow... gotta remember that for possible future reference. *NM*

Minus 40 degrees... Is that Fahrenheit or Celsius?

Thanks for the response. Sounds like a small repair job. You are recommending l remove the cluster and adjust the face plate, correct?
That's where I would start smiling smiley *NM*
