Loss of Brake Fluid '00 Boxster S
kentv1 - Tuesday, 26 February, 2013, at 10:37:39 am
I'm losing fluid every five months or so. Any ideas where I'd check first for a leak? A quick look at the lines going into the calipers isn't showing anything. Thanks
if your prior pad wear/change out observations indicate this to be unusual, try to examine below the reservoir, master and slave (?) cylinders, and perhaps pull wheels to take a good look at the brake lines in the wheel wells and the calipers themselves for brake fluid/residue. Others here can give better guidance as to specifics, or correct my advice.
The usual suspects are ....

... the bleed nipples on the calipers (8 of them).
If they're completely dry look at the hard line connection to the caliper and at the hard line connecting both sides of the caliper.
If all that's dry, look at the flexible brake lines.
Look closely at the master and slave cylinder/reservoir.
Look at the clutch slave cylinder (above the transmission).
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro
