Another quick ??? re: removing clock-spring and assembly
grant - Sunday, 3 March, 2013, at 10:17:39 am
Folks. Any quick BTDT. See the connector below. It should be easy to remove, but its not, and i hate to force things.

I am prying the black tab up, while pulling the connector back. The tab does appear to catch a groove or protrusion. But it simply won't move. I suspect it may just be very tight after near 10 years. Any advice?

I am pointing toward the blurry connector.

Don't try to disconnect that connector

Instead follow the wire a few inches to the next connector and disconnect that.
i can see it, btu VERY hard to get at. I'll take a pic later

The connector may be buried but it shouldn't be too far away and it should be loose enough to pull up for easier disconnection.

.... i got it all apart, checked what i could, cleaned any contact i could, and re-assembled.
I did not take the clockspring apart since i hear that's usually a one-way trip.

Still have the airbag failure. Could, of course, be the bag. not sure how to test *it*.

Since many reports point to the clockspring, i'm thinking of installing a good used one from a dismantler to see if it fixes things. Now that i've had it apart and back once, it should be easy enough the next N times....

Any wisdom?

Do you have a tool to reset the airbag light?

I don't recall you saying wether or not you did, but if you did repair what was causing the fault, the light will not reset on its own.

PST2s apparently cost more than the car. Maybe i need to get it reset. OTOH, i don't expect it was as simple as dirty contacts, btu i can hope!

I think Maurice in LI has the durametric. I'd check with him.
