I called local dealership and they only knew of the $600 child deactivation. Any other options? atwnsw - Wednesday, 8 May, 2013, at 5:37:08 pm |

So, is it permanently de-activated or only when your dog gets in the car? atwnsw - Sunday, 12 May, 2013, at 11:20:36 am |

I carry my Border Collie in my Boxster a lot. I have fitted the Porsche child seat rail, plugged it in and paid an independent dealer to activate it. When I plug an old seat belt clip a warning light flashes to say the air-bag has been de-activated.
I have a nylon seat cover and a soft fabric lined picnic blanket for Frosty to sit on. He wears a car harness which fastens to the main seat belt.
I would recommend anyone carrying their dog to de-act the air bag. Frosty rests his snout on the dash... If the air bag fired I'm sure the blow would kill him.
