My Boxster is out of commission
paparazzi - Tuesday, 16 July, 2013, at 1:14:20 pm
My Boxster has been in the repair shop for one month now simply because the shop is waiting for a door cable! They say it's on backorder. In the meantime, the summer is passing me by. I'm not asking for a new engine block, just a simple cable. Very unhappy about this. Any similar tales of woe?

Nope, never experienced something like it.

I'm assuming your talking about the mechanical cable for opening the door with the inside handle. If so, its called a Bowden cable. The part number for 98 - 04 Boxsters is 99653732003. Try getting it online from one of the Porsche dealers ans you should be good to go. It's about $10 before shipping.
ask for the part number

then tell them they have two options, you ship it to them and they do the work right away, or you take the car elsewhere.

call this shop near atlanta, they may have a used one onsite and could ship overnight. 100% BS noone can get that part for you for over a month.

Strictly german, near braselton or winder ga, ask for bobbie

good luck
Looked at putting in a 911 engine.

Waited for winter to be over.

Dawdled around about getting the engine rebuilt.

Then when I fired the gun, mechanical took another season for his dawdling time....

Missed two seasons, but now, it's like driving a new car.
