Check out the New Boxster and Cayman GTS on the Porsche sitessmiling bouncing smiley

I have spent most of the night tonight building "my" perfect Boxster....wow...so much funhot smiley

With 3ft of snow to melt...what else should I do.

The GTS looks like a fabulous deal. I built my GTS with the options I desire (I am very weak sad smiley) and for a few $ less I would get a cooler looking car (IMHO) car with 15 more HP.

I can't wait to get my new 2015( to me) GTS in 2-3 years.

What a great offering by Porsche!!!!

I am so excited I can't sleep...any advice?

Mike

Mike

Take 2 sleeping pills and call me in the morning.
So, for $73K + change you get:
15 extra hp
PASM
Sport seats+
SC
Sport ex.
Sport steering whl.
Cayman like front fascia and different rear diffuser
20" Carrera S wheels
PTV
Dynamic headlights

Besides the extra HP and different looking front and rear fascias, it looks like you save a couple of thousand $'s vs. ordering individually.
Mike, I tried to spec one out as close to mine as possible. The GTS ended up at $5K more.

I don't have Sportchrono, so that would reduce the difference to $3K.

PTV is not standard and PSE does not include the sports tailpipe.

You can get the X73 option in place of PASM with no change in price (Porsche pockets the $700 difference).

So I figure the different facia and 15 HP run about an extra $2K.

Overall, I do think it's a nice package depening how you like the different bumper covers.
Since no one here has yet bought a Boxster or Cayman GTS, I'll weigh in with my entirely subjective take on the new fascia.

If the image Gary posted accurately represents the new 'look', I'm not a big fan, to put it mildly. That car is one of the Lee sisters - 'Ug', or 'Home', take your pick.

If those vents on the front fascia were vertical instead of horizontal, it would look very similar to a Buick. eye popping smiley

The bumpers--I don't car for that look much, especially the black or dark color around the air takes.

Regarding keeping the $700 differential between PASM and the X73--they didn't get the highest margins/car by accident smiling smiley

I agree with you on both counts. The dark colour makes the intakes look too large and takes away from the sleek, aerodynamic look.

As for that price difference, the Boxster Spyder was the same story. Order it without AC and/or stereo without price reduction.

I did not notice any lack of sleekness or aerodynamiclessness...I think it was because when I build my car Guenter..it will be Black. When I changed the GTS in a lighter colour, it sure did have a noticeable visual impact. I can't wait to see these cars flying off the shelf...and I must admit the Boxster hardtop version is pretty hard to ignore. Oooh these choices a killing me.

A black Boxster, Mike? Really? Who'da thunk? winking smiley

For the first time, the Porsche Boxster and Porsche Cayman will be offered as GTS models. As is typical for Porsche, these models feature more powerful engines and additional standard performance equipment. The new Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS models are visually defined by more than just a badge: they offer as standard equipment unique front and rear fascias, blacked out Bi-XenonTM headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), 20-inch Carrera S wheels and a Sport Exhausticon system with black tailpipes as standard. The Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS are built specifically for maximum driving pleasure.

The 3.4-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine of the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS models delivers an additional 15 hp compared to their "S" model counterparts. This means that the Boxster GTS has 330 hp and the Cayman GTS has 340 hp. Torque has been increased by 7 lb.-ft. in each model: 273 lb.-ft. in the Boxster GTS and 280 lb.-ft. in the Cayman GTS. The Sport Chronoicon package is now a standard feature with either the 6-speed manual or the optional 7-speed Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDKicon) transmission. This means with the optional PDK transmission and Sport Plus button activated, the Boxster GTS reaches 60 mph from a standstill in 4.4 seconds and 4.3 seconds in the Cayman GTS. Top track speed for the Boxster GTS is 174 mph with a manual transmission and 177 mph for a Cayman GTS equipped with a manual transmission.

The Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS feature Porsche Active Suspension Managementicon (PASM) as standard, which offers the choice of sportier or more comfortable ride settings at the press of a button. The 235/35 front and 265/35 rear tires on 20-inch Carrera S wheels provide the perfect setup for a balanced driving experience. Like other Porsche GTS models, the interior of the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS feature an Alcantara® wrapped steering wheel, headliner, center console, and inserts on the standard Sport Seats Plus. Additional visual elements include GTS nomenclature embroidered into the headrests and printed on the tachometer face.

A specific standard of performance and uniqueness is required to wear the GTS badge. For example, the legendary 1963 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS was dominant on the racetrack and a spectacle on the street. The 1980s and 1990s saw the 924 GTS and 928 GTS refine this characteristic. In 2007 the GTS emblem was reintroduced on the Cayenne GTS and later implemented in the 911 and Panamera model lines.

The Boxster GTS is priced from $73,500 and the Cayman GTS is priced from $75,200, excluding destination charges of $995. Both models will be available for delivery this summer
