My wife just replaced her 2010 SLK with a 2014 and was saying the 2014 felt a lot bigger than the 2010 so I looked up the specs on her SLK models and my current and probable 2015 Boxster. The Boxster is bigger according to the dimensions, especially in length (I actually checked with a measuring tape). But the SLK looks a lot bigger because they pile a lot more stuff in the allotted space as proven by the weight. In doing this exercise I was surprised by the weight reduction from the Boxster 987 to the 981. Maybe someone knows the reason for that. As to my wife's concern, I think what she is feeling is not the minor size difference but design changes in how steering and brakes are controlled as well as the ECO/Sport/Manual modes. We also have a 1974 MGB and it is definitely smaller and it is spelled MGB, see measures below.
At home here we need to watch the size of our cars because our two car garage was built a long time ago out of stone and concrete about the time of the Ford model A or maybe the model T and it is a bit tight for today's more modern vehicles. The garage was an add on to our 300 year old house. The MGB is housed in a wooden shed in the back of our property.
Model Length Width Height Wheel Base Weight
MB SLK 350 2010 160.9" 70.4" 51.1" 95.7" 3318 lbs
MB SLK 350 2014 162.8" 71.5" 51.2" 95.7" 3417 lbs
Boxster 2012 172" 71.5" 51" 95.1" 3130 lbs
Boxster 2015 172.2" 70.9" 50" 97.4" 2888 lbs
MGB 1974 159" 60" 49.5" 91" 2394 lbs
