Its very hard to say. The earliest cars are typically dual-row, which are less problematic than later cars. Regularly driven cars seem to have fewer problems for reasons speculated at length. Its a shame it was not done while the clutch was out - then its the part plus maybe 1-2 hours labor. Truth is, a practiced mechanic can get the transmission in and out in another 4 hours ( Pedro will say less maybe) so the difference is really about $400.
If you drive regularly and maintain your car (oil changes mostly) - truth is that statistics are more or less on your side.
