Mobil (Mobilube PTX) 75w-90 oil is the recommend transmission fluid, at least for the transmission.. MarcW - Friday, 18 March, 2011, at 3:26:08 pm |

Sorry, but I can't buy this. You're saying that Porsche spec'd an oil that dissolves 'lifetime'... MarcW - Sunday, 20 March, 2011, at 5:36:09 pm |

... because we've seen better results with Swepco 201.
The transmissions use the same type of sealed bearings as the Intermediate Shaft uses.
The Porsche transmission oil seems to dissolve the "lifetime" bearing grease very soon.
We have found substantial bearing grease deposited at the bottom of the transmission in as little as 15,000 miles with the Porsche oil.
With Swepco 201 we've found very little grease deposited at the bottom of the tranny with 75,000 miles!
YMMV.
Happy Porsche-ing,
Pedro
