2013 Boxster S.
Two months ago the oil pan was wet, and there was an even film of oil up
both sides of the crankcase as far as I could see: several inches. Could it be some sort of "ordinary" leak from above, or something else? No sign of an AOS failure, but I also took off the filler cap with the car idling, and there was air blowing out, (not just a back-and-forth) making me think of excessive crankcase pressure that might be forcing oil through a gasket(s.) The dealer didn't think the idea was plausible, and it was merely an aged out pan gasket, which was changed out. Nicely, they did a complimentary oil refill.
Well, a couple days ago I noticed a half dollar sized oil drop on the garage floor, and saw the oil pan was wet again. The car's going back again in about a week, but my "interest" in the cause is renewed. Although the AOS seems ok, I came across a video showing that its diaphragm can get stuck such that there's no pressure relief. Also there seem to be tubes going from the unit terminating at each bank with an "Engine Crankcase Vent Valve." Could a malfunction in even just one have a significant effect on crankcase pressure?
I'm pretty sure about my descriptions. Any ideas?
