I'd like a current idea on repair rates...

how much independent shops are charging (hourly) these days. I live in Chicago, and I'm seeing some wide variations. I was wondering what others are seeing. I'm not sure if the economy is playing a role or not, but some seem awfully high. I ask this in regard to my other post with my laundry list of needed maintenance repairs. What'a a (safe) good number? My dealer is around $160. I know that too cheap can be risky.

On the same topic, does anyone have an indy that they recommend in the Chicago/north suburb region? I have a list of shops, but I don't know about their practices and experience with Boxsters... I don't want to pick the wrong shop.

Thanks!

Hahaha!

I'd need to convince him to move to Chicago!!! cool smiley
Sorry Chicago.....We have dibs on Pedro in Atlanta....We will even raise the pot and offer 2 miles of new Porsche test track AND from what I understand close proximity to the Porsche parts warehouse on the west side of Atlanta......But at least if we can get him here, he will be much closer to Chicago!!!!

I can see it now...We will have monthly pilgrimages of Boxsters coming to Atlanta from far and wide to have Sir Pedro lay his hand on our hoods and bless our chariots.

Racecar spelled backwards is Racecar

"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting" ... Steve McQueen as Michael Delaney in "LeMans"

"If you wait, all that happens is that you get older"... Mario Andretti

"Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose" ... Ayrton Senna
of info on good indies is your local PCA region. They will likely be members, they may advertise, and lots of folks will know them, and others who are less active. Now, the PCA-active, racing oriented guys will not be the cheapest. But they will largely be good. Bear in mind for many tasks you dont need a porsche specialist, you just need a good honest shop.
