Thus endeth the ongoing p1128, p1130 sage for me, my boxster and my electrical parts cleaner.
I was able to avoid the replacement MAF for the better part of 4 years by cleaning it a couple times a year. I was always able to get it through emissions. Not this year. CEL would stay off only for a little. Then on again. I was not able to get into the shop during a time when the CEL was off and the IM codes were reset.
So Thanks to Pelican, I have a brand new MAF in the car. Resetting the IM codes took about an hour and was a PITA. As soon as they cleared I went straight to the shop and passed the test - just in case.
After the test, I drove with some spirit. I found that a "stumble" at 3500 rpm +/- that I had been experiencing for some time was gone. The engine pulled clean and clear. It was a noticeable difference. Not exactly night and day, but substantial.
When I came home, I cleaned the garage. Now maybe the box and the kids' bikes can share the garage without any deaths --- DON'T ASK!
