... the 10 minute mark has been broken at Pikes Peak by a Suzuki driven by a 60 year old driver.
Granted, it's not your normal Suzuki, this one only cranks out 912 HP and ...
It's not your normal 60 year old driver. This one is a "Monster" and has won the hillclimb every year since 2003.

Racecar spelled backwards is Racecar

a drive like that. hot smiley

Not much room for error on some of those stretches.

That was quite a drive.
Minus 40 degrees... Is that Fahrenheit or Celsius?

Those 2 videos are...
Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Thursday, 30 June, 2011, at 6:29:30 pm
... not from the same race.
At least some parts are not.
I just opened two browser windows, synchronized the starts and ran them together.
The one I posted (which is from one single and continuos camera angle) was running a bit faster than the second video and I had to keep hitting pause to re-synch them.
Eventually I noticed that the road surface on the one I posted had much better pavement (less worn) than the second video and also the second video has a 2nd dirt patch.
Also, some of the livery on the car doesn't match.
I'm pretty sure that the second video has a bunch of scenes edited in from last year's hillclimb.
That's the curse I have when watching videos, from my TV days. I look for continuity and errors in editing.
Happy Porsche-ing,
Pedro

Yeah, I realized they're different after posting.

For whatever they have to do with it, even my i-Mac and OSX had problems with buffering at 720 res and above. I, too, am cursed with seeing all kinds of graphic imperfections from having been in the magazine business for years. Case in point: so much TV material is way over-sharped. Where in reality do you find people walking around with an alternate black and white line around their bodies?
Anyway, thanks for posting the first one, which sent me on a surfing expedition and lots of vicarious fun. Not vicariously I once had a friend hanging onto the seat bolsters and cringing as I ran through a high pass out west. We had seen some girls on the interstate but he wanted to take the scenic route, so we did that and caught up to the girls when we got back down to the highway. (This was in a Volvo B18 automatic by the way, not a high performance vehicle.)

I have a couple of things to say...

long lens

and

remote camera.

the spectators are more insane than the driver. I can't believe the people standing roadside to take a picture then jump out of the way.

oh, and, wow, that is a hair raising drive!

" spectators are more insane than the driver " . I have to agree. You wouldn't find me standing that close to the action. Reminded me of something you'd see in Europe.
that is completely and utterly insane
