Nice ...

Joanie and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary this weekend with a trip down to Avila Beach near San Louis Obispo. We stayed at the Sycamore Springs Resort. Perfect weather, perfect location, perfect weekend. We had a few RV moments, but the worst was a, “gentleman” in a new 911 cab driving 40 miles an hour with 20 cars lined up behind him on Hwy 1. Quite an embarrassment to Porsche owners.

I know we have a lot of fans of Hwy 1 on this forum... there are 3 wash-out or slide, single lane traffic stops, but it's passable from the Bay Area to LA... no Carmagedon here.

What a terrific area for an anniversary get away!.

Gotta admit, when we did the PCH drive I wasn't pushing the limits of the Boxster, just enjoying the fantastic views and made frequent stops for lots of pictures. ....hmmmmm but 40 mph, sheesh. Guess you didn't have a chance to explain to the gentleman that there were 5 (maybe 6) more gears available for him to use.

Surprised you didn't have the top down to fully enjoy the vistas.

Thanks for sharing - LOVE that beautiful area of the country.

We had the top down on the way down and most of the way back, but I got way too much sun over the weekend and even with a hat I knew my dermatologist would be scolding me.

... on all counts!

Congratulations on the anniversary.

What a great trip--I remember doing in '86' in a rented Toyota soup can and was glad I was upbound rather than downbound in the switchbacks. The drive has to be hoot in a Boxster, with the top down.

Glad to hear the road is still open despite the washouts.
