QuoteMikenOH Dave--was yours the grey/natural leather car up at Penske? I saw one like that last week at that dealership and have to say that combo was very striking That's it!by Dave In MD - Main Forum
I found an article on Popular Science. It's officially a Boxster coupe! Signature updated.by Dave In MD - Main Forum
I thought they were called Boxster sedans! It's actually got quite a few options. It seems that the resell value is not much affected by the options. Options include full leather, power seats, Bose stereo, xenon headlights, rain sensing wipers and dimming mirrors, and others... Also, who ever owned it previously had hard wired a plug for a V1. Handy since I took the V1 and the GPS forby Dave In MD - Main Forum
QuoteMikenOH Beautiful car; did you buy it through a dealer or private sale? Got the car through a dealer. I used the Porsche web site to search for a used Cayman S, sorted by price, got trade-in quotes from kbb.com, reviewed the car fax on them and started down the list to see which dealer would take a reasonable offer with a promise to close it before quarter end. Got it with CPO. Flew outby Dave In MD - Main Forum
So, I've been wanting a new car most of this year. Mostly wanted an S - 986 or 987. The Boxster has been in the shop for about a month. Not sure what the fate of the Boxster will be - more on that later perhaps. But, I found a good deal on a 987 and bought it over the weekend in Cleveland. Nice drive home through the mountains in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and western Maryland. 2006 Caymaby Dave In MD - Main Forum
Can't make it I'm afraid. Don't have an open weekend until November 3rd. Ugh. And, I'm kinda Porscheless at the moment. Not that it really matters for an ESBB run. Long story on the Boxster, but it's in the shop with the engine out at the moment. More on that later.by Dave In MD - Main Forum
QuoteLawdevil & CURVN8R I see where GrandAm and ALMS are going to merge starting with the 2014. Seems like a good move to me, but I was wondering if anyone else has any thoughts about the pluses and minuses. Also, anyone else going to the Petit Lemans at road Atlanta? I'd say I mostly have fears. Grand-AM Daytona Prototype was always too NASCAR for my taste with all the cars looking alikby Dave In MD - Main Forum
I bought this one about a year ago. VW GTI with a DSG. Not quite a station wagon but not that far away. Very happy with it and the transmission is so much better than a standard automatic. I'd have to take about 10 seconds to talk myself out of a PDK in my next Porsche...by Dave In MD - Main Forum
great video. I was at the Vets on Track outing in Summit Point the previous two years. It's a great thing that the Potomac region does. These folks have had a tough road. It's great to see them get out of the cars with such huge smiles on their faces. Thanks for posting!by Dave In MD - Main Forum
Glad to hear you're on the mend Pedro!! Anytime I'm feeling "old" and creaky, I recite two saying that were taught to me long ago: 1. Any day I wake up on the right side of the grass is a good day 2. In golf, a dry ball is a happy ball! If you show up at BRBS next year and have half as much fun as your flat self did this year, it will be a good day.by Dave In MD - Main Forum
Orange seems to have worked for the Oompa Loompas... Not sure about the other one in the picture though...by Dave In MD - Main Forum
towed behind the car with a Willwood hitch. The 5 to 3 box for the lights is wired to the taillights and I just run it out beside the spoiler. The blue tape keeps the wire from rubbing on the bumper. I got the HF spare tire and mount which also servers as a ground point to keep the tongue off the dirt. Wheels are strapped to eye bolts and the tool box keeps my jack, impact wrench and some toby Dave In MD - Main Forum
Having a great driver's education event in Watkins Glen this weekend, but really disappointed I won't make it to the run. Always fun times. Enjoy the ride, the crabs and have a beer for me. Daveby Dave In MD - Main Forum
I'm at a Driver's Ed event at Watkins Glen and can't make it that weekend. Kevin was talking about getting an ESBB run together at BRBS though.by Dave In MD - Main Forum
QuoteRey I would probably take the PDK too and it pains me a little to say that. I liked the car way more than I expected. Thanks for the great write-up. I now hate you! I'm definitely going to a dealer as soon as they're on sale and drive one. I have a VW GTI with their "DSG" transmission. I've been pretty impressed with it - nice crisp shifts, very intuitive to operate and adjusts tby Dave In MD - Main Forum
replaced the clutch in my 03 base at just over 60k miles. It was shuttering and was almost to the rivets. While in there, I had the IMS bearing replaced and the RMS replaced (the newest one is very different). Of course, I also had oil and filter changed, a track alignment done, a ROW M030 suspension installed and wrote a fairly sizable check to the Indie that works on my car. to me. The current CURVN8R is going to a good home with a friend. The new CURVN8R will be home soon. Where's the bad news in that? I'm guessing they will have future play dates together. Like maybe BRBS next year?by Dave In MD - Main Forum
and they will tell you camber in the alignment is a trade off. Better cornering at the limit requires a pretty aggressive setting, but it can be dialed back for the street. It will of course result in positive camber and less grip at the limit but get much better life from the tire by wearing the tire across more of the tread. It's a choice between objectives. OTOH, IMHO the 986 looks better than the 987 and the 981 fixes some of that, returning to a look of a sports car and less of a Z4 luxo cruiser wanna be. I also think it's possible that the 987 was designed as a Boxster hardtop and then the top removed. Of course, all three are better than most, but I think we need to line all three up at BRBS and drink beer and discuss until we get a consensusby Dave In MD - Main Forum

On page 8 of their magazine that came today, there's a nice write up. BRBS is also on their web site as an upcoming event: BRP Foundation And, yes that is my silver car in the picture!by Dave In MD - Main Forum
Back in the 70s I had the pleasure of a ride in one of his 427 Cobras at over 160 with the top down. The car was a beast and a product of genius. Thanks for all your contributions to the automotive world. What a legacy you leave! RIP CS.by Dave In MD - Main Forum
The pace cars at the Rolex 24 hour race this year. My first Porsche picture this spring. Well, actually it was still winter in the Northeast but was over 70 degrees in Daytona!by Dave In MD - Main Forum

Too funny and too accurate Mike. The 981 is a very nice car. More horsepower, lighter, lower, wider - how can you go wrong with that? So, in 7 years we can read another review comparing the 981 and 982 and lamenting that they just don't build them like they used to. The best review I've seen so far was from one of the dealers in DC who participates in the Potomac PCA DEs and Club Races. Hby Dave In MD - Main Forum
