On Monday, there was torrential rain through WVa. Then absurdly humid - so top stayed up. On Wed, the temp was around 80 and went down into low 70's - actually ran the heat fro the last bit.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
As some of you know, my Boxstering has been somewhat limited of late. - 3 kids. - Hip replacement You get the idea..... Well, I had a two day business meeting in Roanoke, VA. I would typically fly. But flying means. NY to Charlotte (jet), Charlotte to Roanoke (turboprop). Usually, the flights take around 6.5 hours. Then I have to rent a car.... The drive took just over 7.25 hours. I am doing this by memory, but I seem to recall a poster on the old board who replaced the OEM units with MB-Quartz units and reported very good results. But again, this is an older memory.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
A man who I never met, but whom I still miss. RIP Chuck and for those who don't know - Chuck was the originator of Porsche Pete's Boxster Board. The place many of us first met. Just read and you will get the idea.by JM-Stamford,CT - In Chuck's memory
Under the circumstances, there was no need to drive the car. No emergency etc. For the modest cost of a tow, you know that you are not doing more damage. I also agree that it is likely a broken/thrown belt. But if it was thrown for a reason - then something seized or broke. Either way, by now, you know. If you are posting you are safe. So other than an annoyance....by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I have, long ago fitted the factory CD changer and rear speakers. Neither of which came with the car.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
and, yes, I just bought the brand new Blackberry Classic to replace my aging Bold. The new phone has most of the bells and whistles of an Android phone, with the benefit of Blackberry keyboard and security. My IT guy is actually thinking about switching from his Android to the new Classic or Passport. There is DIY out there to easily get AUX without the CD changer. But I would prefer both. And if I ever sell, the buyer will likely want both - and to know that the harness has not been hacked at all.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I am considering getting this harness which appears to easily create an AUX jack for my older CDR system. Has anyone tried this - or is there a better choice?by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Is that suggestive of a wiring problem rather than a sensor problem?by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
which to some extent is a good thing.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
As is the black plastic tray. And mine are amber too. I am a charter memeber the save the ambers club.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
A headlight bulb blew over the weekend. Easy fix - right? Ah, no. One side went in like butter. No issue. The other side was a friggin' bear - or worse. First, it was simply jammed. Just jammed. It felt like the service tool "stripped" in the process of removing the light. But that was not the big issue because a simple deep socket worked just fine. The big issue was the wiring harnesby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
As reported last time, I cleared the code and drove. I wanted to see if the car just threw a random code. I have since passed inspection etc. I have not been using the car very heavily due to a (now resolved) hip replacement. But it has been at least a few thousand miles and about a year and a half. The return of the code is certainly suggestive that the sensor is, indeed failing. But appareby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
several years ago I recall a poster with the same symptoms. As I recall, it was an issue with the climate control and its interface with the computer. It might be found if you search - or someone with a better memory might be able to tell chapter and verse.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I wore through the rears pretty quickly, but thanks to Devin, I replaced them inexpensively. But the fronts are starting to show some cracks. They are wearing too. I could probably string it out for another year with limited driving but ...by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Where do you people live? I go back regularly. I need a Rockland Bakery fix.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

I substantially favor the earlier 986. It is more visceral for me. Can I explain it - well - no. But if you have to explain....by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
While I appreciate that they were not Porsches, I found that I used the manual option a lot for the first several weeks, then never again. Almost literally never. Was it laziness? Possibly. Was it the fact that 90% of my driving is in the NY/Stamford area and there are fewer possibillities of sporting driving? Maybe. Or was it the fact that I have the Boxster for when I want to have fun?by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
To answer your immediate question, I have been on this board and its predecessor for a number of years. I have been a lurker on several other boards. I have never seen - or at least I do not recall - a detailed post about creating a catch can/vented to atmosphere bypass on a Boxster engine. That is in marked contrast to other boards I float around. Because it is such a common hack with otherby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
If you start monkeying around with the intake, it might also affect the computers. I would think the intake computations take into account the added pressure, hydrocarbons, etc that the crankcase would went into the intake. I have seen setups on older cars where the crankcase is instead vented to atmosphere with a catch can to prevent signigicant oil loss. But those setups were all pre-OBD IIby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I embrace progress as much as anyone. I love antilock brakes, traction control (controlled properly), airbags and tire monitors. All good things. But I reject technology for technology sake. The BMW i-drive is just overkill. I think that technology which forces you to use it instead of someting that has worked intuitively forever is dumb. I think that electronic climate control with separatby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
it is a critical measurement for the car and (as the original poster noted) the measurement can be superceded by something else. I have no problem with an electroninc or computerized level checking device. I object to it being exclusive and I further object to it being overridden for any reason. Your examples are the gas tank and coolant. Well, the gas tank is largely an elctromechanical deviby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
