You can use a key to open the door?by Crooster - Main Forum
An ex-colleague of mine (Chris Lennon) just finished 2nd in the Vintage class at Pikes Peak in a 911. That also takes some serious nerve. I'm surprised that Pikes Peak didn't make the list.by Crooster - Main Forum

Take the 987.2, stick the turbo 4 in and make a few minor styling tweeks and you are done. It would save lots of $$$ on tooling up a totally new car.by Crooster - Main Forum
No - could not fit one, but I'm fairly confident I reached at least the required torque value. The old mount was about 80% failed, still a bit of rubber had not cracked. I have noticed a reduction in vibration and its even smoother engaging the clutch and shifting. Time and effort well spent!by Crooster - Main Forum
I completed the swap on my mount yesterday. Fairly straightforward with the mechanical scissor jack and a ratcheting wrench!by Crooster - Main Forum
This is on my to do list as well. I have the part and just need the time (perhaps this weekend?) The note about using a mechanical jack is appreciated.by Crooster - Main Forum
I have noticed that the 981 rads seem more exposed than the 986 which are tucked back further in the nose. I bought a set of screens but I am on the fence whether to install them or not. Regardless I think I will make pulling the bumper and giving the rads a good clean part of my yearly routine.by Crooster - Main Forum
So I can eliminate a dirty MAF. I was hoping to find a smoke machine to use to check for vacuum leaks but nobody seems to rent these locally. I guess I will have to take it to the local P-car mechanic after all.by Crooster - Main Forum
Some good links here. I am streaming good quality using VLC but I did need to increase the buffer size to 4500ms. (There are instructions on the page further down).by Crooster - Main Forum
Guenter - have you figured out how to actually watch the race live now that Speed Channel is gone? Streaming?by Crooster - Main Forum
Thanks for the input. The light came back on today after a few days driving around, P1128 again. I will try cleaning the MAF first since its cheap and easy just to eliminate the possibility and then dive in further if that doesn't help.by Crooster - Main Forum
Yes - remember - top up when washing a Boxster!by Crooster - Main Forum
Thanks Pedro. The seals look ok and spraying starter fluid on them did not change the idle. I will drive it some more and see if the code comes back. If it does I think I will try cleaning the MAF next.by Crooster - Main Forum
More info - I removed the top hose on the AOS and there was just a film of oil there. I also sprayed some quick start around the intake hoses and there was no increase in RPMs.by Crooster - Main Forum
Our 2001 986 ran perfectly all the way down and back to BRBS this year, but just threw a P1128 today on an ice cream run. The engine feels like it is running fine. There is lots of info on the web about how to diagnose this, but I had a specific question regarding removing the oil filter cap while running to check the AOS. When I removed it there was definitely some vacuum there. The idle helby Crooster - Main Forum
We definitely agree with that! Deb & I were noobs and had a great time. Special thanks to Guenter and Michelle for showing us the ropes and introducing us around. What a fantastic bunch of people who made us feel very welcomed. I cannot say enough good things about the venue and their staff. The planners did a great job and we have booked for next year and are already looking forward to iby Crooster - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
I saw this bad boy at Porsche of London yesterday. I felt relieved to make it away with my life. This car is a killer!by Crooster - Main Forum
Thanks for the replies. I managed to get the old plate off ok by loosening the 19mm brass nuts on the top of the plate (after an overnight soak in PB blaster). The good news is that I didn't have to affect the adjustment of the mounts at all. When I get the new plate I should just be able to drop it onto the old mounts and tighten the top nuts and hopefully avoid the fiddly adjustments.by Crooster - Main Forum
Oh yeah - it's definitely broken. The plastic that holds the retaining rod has broken as well as a part of the outside guide. I found this helpful link but I still haven't managed to figure out how to loosen the mounts to remove the old one.by Crooster - Main Forum
Despite the iffy weather it was a great fun run! We had a quick group leader and great roads which added up to lots of fun! I was able to admire both Guenter's 981 and BLKBOXs car in my rear view mirror most of the day!by Crooster - Main Forum
Well sometimes things don't go as planned. A simple bulb change has turned into something more. When re-installing the headlight assembly I think the connector had shifted a bit and I compensated by shoving it in harder. When I tried to tighten the locking rod I heard a crack and now I need to replace the mount. It looks like it is fastened at three points but for the life of me I cannot figuby Crooster - Main Forum
I have a Motive Power Bleeder that I have used many times to bleed the brakes and clutch on my 951 track car. I plan to do a brake fluid replacement in the near future on my 986 since I have no idea how long the fluid has been in there. Does the clutch pedal need to be held down when using a power bleeder?by Crooster - Main Forum
Yup - I have put 1000km's on the 986 already this spring! Making up for that dreadful winter. ;-)by Crooster - Main Forum
Looks like we had similar ideas on Sunday...by Crooster - Main Forum
I have already put 500Km on mine since getting it out last week. On Sunday I did the drive from Cambridge to Paris and saw 2 other Boxsters out for a run as well.by Crooster - Main Forum
I've had my Boxster out since last weekend. On Saturday I changed the oil, fuel and air filters as well as the accessory drive belt. Monday was the nicest day in southern Ontario so far so I played hooky and went for a nice long top down drive - great to be back on the road! :-)by Crooster - Main Forum
