These are threaded and screw in and out of the sheetmetal allowing you to adjust how much the trunk pops open after the latch releases. Scissors lifts are better than no lift, but they're not the best for a car like the Boxster which requires most of its work e done from underneath. In my opinion a low or mid-rise 2-post lift is the best alternative for a home garage. There are a couple of manufacturers that offer such a solution. Start at the most likely place of the problem, the tail light itself. Pull it out and inspect it for corrosion, especially at the base of the bulb. The code readers such as the Actron can reset the CEL only. The PST-II is the original Porsche diagnostic and reprogramming tool for 1986 - 2004. The PIWIS is the replacement factory diagnostic tool for the PSTII. The Durametric can reset all of the warning lights and service reminders. This is an excellent tool for the DIY'er.
