for amusement only…i’m not looking for the solution foam. foam. foam. the car has been blowing foam for 15-20 years. my plan always has been to ignore it. surely it’ll “run out” soon. who else drives around with long tweezers or other tools to pull out the flakes of foam? this is half of what i pulled out today, after i dumped a similar load in the coffee shop parking lot. …with lots of info from you all, and internet search. i went with these hose holders. the clip is firm on the suspension, and the cable seems loose enough to slide if needed. i didn’t like the idea of a zip tie. thanks all.by SMILIN - Main Forum
hard to know, especially without a picture. have a wheel repair specialist look at it. i had a wheel straightened for $125. maybe the same shop can supply the tires, mount and balance for ease and/or a better deal.by SMILIN - Main Forum
here are my primary wheels…precisely measured, that is an index finger gap between the cable and wheel. but you can see that the cable can be cinched up to the suspension for much more clearance. fyi, the problematic wheels, which i haven’t used in many many years are the 911 size 17x9 et55 in the rear.by SMILIN - Main Forum
they’re not stock size. and the car is lowered. my question is…is anyone’s parking brake cable originally attached to the suspension with a little metal cable clip that i’ve seen some posts reference? i’ve watched a dozen videos on changing brakes or rear suspension and have looked at dozens of pictures on the internet and i haven’t found a useful view of the area. and i’ve searcheby SMILIN - Main Forum
this is the top/inside of the brake caliper on the right. cable and suspension arm circled in yellow. yellow arrow points to where the rim wore through the plastic and exposed the metal jacket. the black tape is just there as an indicator of future contact. thanks.by SMILIN - Main Forum
my wheel & alignment combo is rubbing on my sagging parking brake cable. what’s the common sense consensus…heavy duty zip tie, wire tie, or was there a retainer clip on the suspension arm originally?by SMILIN - Main Forum
happy 28th birthday to SMILIN. fun looking at this picture, as i still have some of the junk seen in the picture, and the car is still looking great and sitting in the same garage. and most important, especially happy that i still have my dad! cheers to you all for adding to the enjoyment with this car.by SMILIN - Main Forum
yeah yeah, i know, you didn’t bring your car. i’ll look through my archive.by SMILIN - Main Forum
hi howard. there you go. you should be in there somewhere. i’ll dig through my computer archive in the next few days. doug_d (cameron park, ca)by SMILIN - Main Forum
i would drive it for a while (and monitor) and reassess. maybe it just needs to be driven a bit. also, fyi, my comment above relates to a ‘98 boxster.by SMILIN - Main Forum
i don’t think that you’re going to get anyone to say that it’s ok. it’s not the right way to resolve the leak. but 500 miles ago i used 2 cans of LiquiMoly Motor Oil Saver and my minor seepage seems to be temporarily mitigated.by SMILIN - Main Forum
feeling it at the local dealer. the salespeople actually look at you now. give it 6 months and they may say, “hi.”by SMILIN - Main Forum
thank you chuck for establishing a civil social media forum for boxster enthusiasts, and pedro for keeping it alive!by SMILIN - Main Forum
thank you both. the range 1 ignitions…it MUST be counter/tool limited. i hit the rev limiter many times, every drive.by SMILIN - Main Forum
as a computer nerd, the number of range 1 ignitions looks suspicious! too late for techron? 159k on the original dual row IMS bearing. leave it alone while i’m having the RMS and clutch done?by SMILIN - Main Forum
fotos gifs OUTLIER ALERT: here’s me and my dad in early 1998. he’s closing in on 88 and has the same black hair! (just cut shorter). i’m now bald. as for tariffs and pricing, and luring the next generation…i hope something changes from the brand. my kids aren’t interested in porsche, and i’ve probably bought my last new car from them. more and more, i want older and more raw and mby SMILIN - Main Forum
not only will you get wildly varying opinions from the members here, but even articles from tire manufacturers vary. it’s up to you to figure out your risk tolerance for the types of driving you do. i’m a casual, fair weather driver in a moderate climate, and i would be willing to drive garage-kept, 12k mile tires beyond 7 years. i would keep a closer eye on them the older they get, and wouby SMILIN - Main Forum
