Aren't you comparing apples to oranges to bananas? Chevy Volt isn't an EV is it? It's a Hybrid. EV range is about 50 miles. Without ICE intervention, it would limit me to trips around our neighborhood. So not sure how that compares to a possible future E-Boxster and range anxiety. I agree that EV acceleration is great. But what about the handling of a 4000 - 4500 lb. Vehicle? What about the coby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Quotefrogster QuoteGary in SoFL Who, EVER uses ALL the power of the 986, 981, 718 is that a serious question? i used ALL the power in my MY2000 Boxster S extremely often and was clambering for more! Have you driven the 718 GTS? Ultimately, you're spending the $$$. Do YOU like the 718 GTS more than your 981 S. What do YOU think makes it worth giving up your 981 S? Everyone has different priorities in what's important to really enjoy driving a car. If I were in the market for a new Porsche, the Boxster GTS 4.0 is the only Porsche that I would want. But, I'm lucky enough to own a 981S orderedby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
It was my impression that it would be the same engine as the base Boxster - 2.0 liter, 300 HP, along with the front bumper like the 718 Boxster, with the Speedster humps and Spyder convertible roof. So my guess is that it will look kind of like the Spyder from the side and back and perform like the base Boxster.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Basically, it sounds like an "econoSpyder". Spyder chassis with a Boxster 2.0 turbo engine. I'm sure it works for the China market.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
True, that they've come a long way. We have to remember that when the Boxster came out, it saved Porsche from going under. So their finances at the turn of turn of this century weren't anywhere near what they are today. I would think that the manufacturer of the connecting rods that weren't up to spec will take a financial hit in this, if not the whole cost.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
But Porsche has really stepped up. When you consider that the problem didn't originate with Porsche, but a problem with one of its suppliers, they've obviously put a lot of thought into finding a solution that would have the least possible impact on the customer. Since Porsche engines are still assembled by hand, it does present a challenge for them to build those extra NA flat sixes. They're taby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
I think you've summed it up quite nicely. I think the jump from 987 to the 981 was quite a leap forward. My 987 had the stock suspension and my 981 has the X73 suspension. Even though it sits 20mm lower, I found the ride about as compliant as that in my 987, but the handling is way better. I thought you'd be pretty darn happy with your GTS 4.0. Glad you finally past that break-in period. Now youby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Hey Keith. Now that you've got your new GTS broken in, how do you like the handling compared to you 987? You've sure got some great roads in your area to try it out.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
QuoteJMstamford,ct I suspect it only affected one assembly line for a short window on a limited number of vehicle types. Further - who knows how much production is going on in COVID. I do not think we can read anything much into this. You are correct. It only affected the GT 4, Spyder and Boxster / Cayman GTS 4.0 models, the only ones to have this particular engine. They are the most expensiveby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
According to NHTSA, there is a total of 190 cars involved. All built between Jan. 26 and March 4, 2021. The details and break-down of vehicles / models affected are listed here.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Absolutely agree. It's one of those "wow" moments and catch it while you can. Come back at another time and the opportunity is missed. Nice contrast with your blue GTS and colour of the poppies. Well worth giving a car another bath.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum

Glad to see you enjoying your Boxster on this beautiful day too. Yes. A terrific day here in Southern Ontario. 3.5 months in storage. A large proportion of car manufacturers are charging into electric car development. But, buyers don't seem to be sharing in that enthusiasm. Yes electric car sales are rising, but not anywhere near the pace of new EV's that seem to be in the works. In addition, there's going to have to be a lot of planning and development of sources for electricity and charging stations to keep the EV's poweredby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum

I'll be surprised if you don't love this car. I still think the 981 is the ultimate Boxster model. The new 982 GTS 4.0 is a great car. More HP and has that flat six back. For me, I don't really need the extra power. I have to keep a reign on my right foot all the time, as it is, so I can avoid interaction with the LEO's. Yes. It was a disappointment to hear about BRBS being cancelled again. I think the organizers are being cautious as a number of participants might not feel comfortable getting together in large numbers yet. Also, not even sure when the Canada / USA border will reopen. At least there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. That said, I've posted a short video on Youtube about the Wolf Mountaiby Guenter in Ontario - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll appreciate the vented seats in hot weather. The 981 is a big step forward from the 987. For those chips, I'd recommend Dr. Colorchip. If you follow their instructions, it's easy and does a great job.
