i had a room mate in college who had a couple of english cars. a mini and an austin america (IIRC). you practically had to remove the engine to change the fan belt. it was insane.by frogster - Main Forum
as cool and futuristic as the taycan is, i'd probably still choose the "911" if you were going to give me one car.by frogster - Main Forum
i was not familiar with this man's life but wow, what a legacy he has left. amazing. thanks for sharing this, pedro.by frogster - Main Forum

your link goes directly to a gorgeous red 993. i almost died. as much as i love all 911 models, the 993 is the ultimate one for me. i am drooling.by frogster - Main Forum
QuoteJMstamford,ct In addition to charging, others make a point to put the car on jack stands to prevent wheel flat spotting i believe there are different schools of thought on that idea. Some people say that there is a negative impact on suspension components if you let the wheels hang. personally, i used to let my boxster sit for around 5 months every year. Yes, the tires got minor flat spotsby frogster - Main Forum

what happened to the original ones? i remember a long time ago some people, including myself, had problems with the door armrests peeling in the 986 models. i covered mine with leather and they looked nice.by frogster - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario Gary, You haven't checked your whole car. Of course there's a stereo. Speakers are located behind you. The power switch is located to the left of the steering column. ... and the volume control is under your right footby frogster - Main Forum
... since it doesn't say PORSCHE on it! that doesn't look as bad as i expected. the units i've seen in the past have been so gaudy. i like this new porsche unit because it looks original.by frogster - Main Forum

having a large display with android auto in my 986 would be a game changer. now all i need is another 986.by frogster - Main Forum
i used to have one and use it in my boxster. yes, it's safe. it's a maintainer, i.e. very low current. to charge a dead battery with that would probably take days. just plug it into the cigarette lighter and plug the other end to an outlet. how old is your battery? maybe time for a new one? i usually change batteries every 5 years or so. sure, they can last longer than that but i just don't wanby frogster - Main Forum

QuoteBoxsterra I do like Tekton's tools in general. I haven't tried their torque wrench. I use torque wrenches a lot and over time they would all eventually fail in one way or another. I got the PI ones for around $100 apiece. my old one lasted over 20 years so i'm not heartbroken. the PI ones that i found here were well over CAD 200 and the Tekton around CAD 80. I'll keep looking around for whby frogster - Main Forum
my budget is flexible. my philosophy isn't. i'll spend what i need to spend in order to satisfy my requirements. if that's really beyond my means, then i just won't buy anything. my requirements are: - the tools works well. in this case that it is accurate and easy to use - that it is durable (i hate buying junk that doesn't last) i am swayed by stuff that looks and feels good. i did some seby frogster - Main Forum
those seem to be on the upper end of prices for torque wrenches. overkill for my application. thanks though!by frogster - Main Forum
QuoteJMstamford,ct like engine internals or transmissions and what not, I can see little benefit to gain over a modest priced unit. I have a Craftsman (2 actually) and they have been bullet proof for 20+ years. If it is really just for wheel bolts, harbor freight might be enough. I suspect 3 or 4 pounds off on a wheel bolt is less of an issue than something truly precision. QuotePedro (Odessaby frogster - Main Forum
just took off the winter tires this morning and my torque wrench failed. I took the head apart and it was full of metal shaving. The teeth were really messed up. Seems strange. Any recommendations for a good one? Any warnings for ones that i should stay away from? thanks edit to add: it's mainly for the wheel lug nuts so i'll be looking for a 1/2" one that can go to 162 lb/ft. i know that seemby frogster - Main Forum

i studied typography and graphic design in the late 70s and early 80s before computers went mainstream. i've actually composed lead type and printed with it on a manual platen press before that. back then, the only people who did design were real designers. people with training. then came the desktop publishing revolution of the 90s and anyone could buy a Mac become a "graphic artist." the peopleby frogster - Main Forum
