eric should thank CarMax for the four screws they felt were necessary to attach my front plate before delivering my car. perfectly plugged, thanks eric!by SMILIN - Main Forum
The '98 is special...keeping her forever. The 981 is a different kind of fun. It's nice to have choices. I'm happy that your car is still treating you well. I will...I will make it to the track this year to say hello.by SMILIN - Main Forum

I'm "working" to get to 150,000 miles before my baby's 22nd birthday on Jan 22. We decided to go to breakfast up the hill. It got a little cooler than we expected. We took it slow along the back roads and made our destination plenty shy of the snow chain controls. She purred along like she was new. We ended the morning at 149,921 mi. One of these looks different...by SMILIN - Main Forum
exact same story, substituting 986 base to 981 GTS. had a ‘68 ghia . eyeing a GTS 4.0 simply because i bought my 981 used and not quite my perfect config. LOVE the 981. totally different than my 986. keeping the 986 forever. watching for the end of manual transmissions, NA engines, and want one more perfect car to keep until i die. fyi, drove a base 718 and it’s NICE...but i prefer NA to tby SMILIN - Main Forum
...until I saw Sapphire Blue Metallic on the GT4. Love it on the newer models. Wouldn’t want anything darker...unless I win the PCA raffle...I’d be forced to go with Gentian.by SMILIN - Main Forum
no idea on your top, but hello long lost skyler.by SMILIN - Main Forum
...the non-existent car: Boxster GTS+ (i don’t care what you want to call it) = GTS with 4.0L out of the Spyder. GTS ride height and power top. Sapphire Blue Metallic, of course!by SMILIN - Main Forum
I sure hope so, as I'd hate for the bear to get too close and scratch the car! I've owned my 986 for 21 years, and over that stretch I've done a lot of thinking on what should be my next Porsche. 918, of course, but Cayman always seemed a likely candidate. During my active hunt over the past year, I kept coming back to "if I'm in Yosemite, I want the top down!" 918 wasn't really an option, soby SMILIN - Main Forum
I can't recall when I got the magnet. i found PPBB around 8/97 (and ordered the car 9/97). i recall sending in a few bucks and getting a hand-written thank you card from Chuck. Maybe the magnet came with the card.by SMILIN - Main Forum
i keep looking for reasons why i don’t NEED this car: 1) i’m probably not a good enough customer to be able to buy one new 2) sapphire blue isn’t a standard color 3) manual top 4) plastic rear window?? 5) a good chunk of change 400+hp in a na6 with the stylings of a 918 and i’d be out of excusesby SMILIN - Main Forum
hey Bob, you still make runs up to SS?by SMILIN - Main Forum
i understand and partially share your perspective. the new car will take getting used to. it's weird knowing that my foot and hands are connected to input devices (joysticks), but i'm none the wiser. as for driving aids, i'm referring to traction/performance stuff, not auto-driving features. the auto-driving stuff is REALLY nice in other cars, but not for this one.by SMILIN - Main Forum
Same: - Model=Boxster - Big smile Different: - Everything else My '98 is a bare-bones config, with console delete. I had sport shocks with H+R for much of the time...just traded back to sport OEM shocks and springs. I added heated seats and leather door panels later. It's plain inside, and I like that. 149k of fun, fun, fun, and some frustration. The drivetrain has been solid, but I've seen eby SMILIN - Main Forum
hello old friends. hello new friends. a lot has changed in the last 21 years, but that feelin of driving a Boxster...still simply awesome! the 981 isn't an upgrade to the 986 - it's an entirely different car! wow. just wow! I love them both! I hope to see you out there. if it's possible to miss this blue beauty, you'll know me by the giant SMILE! doug i'm keeping her forever (the carby SMILIN - Main Forum
I look forward to hearing more about it after a few miles.by SMILIN - Main Forum
I'm sure (and I mean CERTAIN) that the other member eyeballing the GTS isn't interested in the particular GTS that you mentioned. Take your time and pick the car that you'll love.by SMILIN - Main Forum
