You are correct, PCNA does not allow such things, or at least it didn't back in the late '90s when the newly introduced Boxster had 6-month wait lists. Where are you located? Current car environment is to pay MSRP due to supply chain issues with electronics. I'd suggest doing some online shopping if you have other dealers close at hand. On the bright side, vaxxed, boosted and infected = better prepared for the future. If omicron mutates into a more severe variant, you'll be better situated. That's my fear with omicron, it is a "scout" mutation that is perfecting break throughs, and it will then start to mutate into a delta like variant and really kick some butt. Good luck. Living life above 3000 RPMs! Sad to say, but I live most of my life below 3000 RPMs. Daily driving. Still more enjoyable in a Porsche than a mass-produced vehicle. Funny thing is, Porsche went with the smaller displacement and turbos to help improve MPG. Maybe for Gov't tests, but real life, we are probably defeating that goal. Enjoy.by db997S - Main Forum
To change your user name, go to the "Main Forum" page (NOT the Home Page) and click on "Control Center" in the upper-right corner of the page. There you should see an "edit profile" link on the right side of the page, amongst other options, and edit away after clicking. Good luck with the edit, and the new ride. Starts at $141K, wonder what the sticker would be on that tricked out ride? Love the seat inserts. Wonder if you can delete the wing?by db997S - Main Forum
old Boxsters are bargains. If in excellent condition, maybe $12K,but many of the first gen Boxsters trade at 10 or under making them great for first time buyers who are somewhat mechanically inclined, or for high school kids in nice climates who want that cool ride for school instead of taking the bus.by db997S - Main Forum
You can do that? I went away for two months to work remotely and was so happy to hop back in my P-Car. Hope he's enjoying the Mini. Haven't they had reliability issues in the past (maybe they've turned the corner). I've known two people who had em and both were happy to finally move on.by db997S - Main Forum
She'll be a brand new old car. Guess when you own your own garage, you need to only do cosmetic stuff at 300K. Figured complete engine and suspension rebuilds. Have to post picks of your plastic surgery baby.by db997S - Main Forum
Since I'll be long gone (aka, dead) before I'd even come close to 300K miles, what does that makeover entail? and, who's doing it?by db997S - Main Forum
I beg to differ. Yellowstone and Grand Teton are tremendous in a drop top. We did them several years ago (basically right next to each other, not certain why they are separate parks), also in a Mustang convertible, and wow. A bit scary when stuck in a buffalo jam, sitting still, no roof and buffalo so close you could reach out and touch them. Glad I was in a rental!by db997S - Main Forum

Someone I work with has a Taycan. I park near him and it definitely makes my '09 997S look long in the tooth. He traded in his Tesla Model S for it and has no regerts. I've seen him leave the garage and definitely drives it responsibly. --dbby db997S - Main Forum

Need to rev the engine at higher RPMs was the major complaint against the Honda S2000, which was supposed be the Boxster killer. Not like my 2009 997S that spits and snarls at start up. Did see a parked 911 T a month or so ago, so not certain about its note. Only modern Porsche T of any kind I've seen. Nevertheless, a Porsche sports car is a Porsche sports car. Software issue. Why can't they push updates remotely like Tesla (note, I'm not a Tesla fanboy by any stretch of the imagination. Just an easy comparison to make)? Taycan Recallby db997S - Main Forum

Note: after five days of being idle, your remote entry shuts off to preserve battery, which means you will probably have to use your key anyway to access the car, but that doesn't mean that your batter is dead. Not certain if you'll be gone a full five days after locking the car at the airport. You could be on the cusp.by db997S - Main Forum

Not certain where you live, but shop around. I've brought three Porsches, only one has been from my local dealer, the other two, from out of state. I'm on the east coast, so lots of dealers to contact. Porsche does these limited editions to increase demand when a model year starts to get a bit long in the tooth. They've come a long way. When my '98 got delayed due to the porous engine blocks, I got a scale Boxster. Not certain if the cylinder sleeve people got anything, and the IMS people had to do a class action suite.by db997S - Main Forum
I thought the "fix" was a new engine? If so, there could be a disclosure issue with the engine VIN matching what we always perceive to the be the "only" VIN on a car that we use for registration, etc. For these very "limited" production cars, that impacts value down the road as the car would not be considered "original" due to non-matching VINs. Proper collectors/restorers verify these things bby db997S - Main Forum
Knew about those items from the pre-Pedro's Board (Porsche Pete's Boxster Board). Stumbled on it in early 1998 while doing research before buying a two-seater. Lots of talk of rev limiter (up shift but NOT down shifts) and the 4K roar.by db997S - Main Forum
I still remember when I first heard my 1998 roar at 4K RPM. Brought a huge smile every time. Nothing to add to your item, it just brought back sweet memories of a car long gone.by db997S - Main Forum
