I am looking to sell my 2001 Base as a roller. the IMS failed and it's just sitting. I entertained maybe making it a project car but I just don't have the time and facilities to do it. If anyone hear's of someone looking for a project car, this could fit the bill. I'll entertain all offers. I can get pics soon. -Ericby ericp - Cars for Sale
Installed the new intake and throttle body. It was a bit tricky to do, but I managed to get it installed. Thanks Pedro for answering your phone on a Saturday. I have also applied the FVD ECU programming, that went very smoothly. I definitely feel a bit more power, it's a pretty good upgrade and I am happy with it. Nice little project. Thanks again for taking my call on a Saturday Pedro. -Ericby ericp - Main Forum

Did you have to rewire the head unit to the amp, basically bypassing the MOST wiring?by ericp - Main Forum
My goal is really education and the possibilities once I pull the engine. I would like to know what happened. I also want to see if it can be repaired or if replacement is necessary. I picked up an '04 Base last week because I need my fix, lol. But, I still want to learn from this one and I think it could be a fun project. Thanks everyone for your insights and thanks for the link Boxsterra, veryby ericp - Main Forum
I lost the engine in my '01 base a couple of weeks ago and am toying with the idea of pulling the engine and maybe making a Winter project of fixing it. I am wondering what the process is to pull an engine out, does anyone have an idea of how long it takes to do this and how it's done? Maybe even a write-up somewhere? What is the DOF fix?by ericp - Main Forum
I was faced with the same questions recently in terms of replacing boots, CV joints etc... After adding up the individual parts prices and the time involved to rebuild, I decided to replace both half axles. I purchased them from Suncoast (best deal I found out there, ~$800 each I have an '01 base) and my friend has a lift in his garage we replaced both in less than 2 hours each. I still have theby ericp - Main Forum

BTW, what MY did the IMS problem go away (if it has)?by ericp - Main Forum
I am now faced with this same consideration. My engine blew this past Friday, about 120 miles after my 10,810 mile trip! Depressing, but relieved it didn't happen while on the road. -Ericby ericp - Main Forum
The new cap comes with a tether, order it, then once you have it you'll see how it works and just cut the old tether off.by ericp - Main Forum

23 days, 31 states, 10,810 miles, 1 speeding ticket. What an amazing trip and a more amazing country! We had such a great time, can't wait to do that again. -Ericby ericp - Main Forum
I had a similar issue 2 weeks ago in Las Vegas. I lost a lot of coolant in the 111 degree heat. I got to a dealer and they pressure tested the system, found no issues, replaced the cap and no furher symptoms. ~6000 miles since and no more leak -Ericby ericp - Main Forum
I did mention the door lock, and also replaced it and took the car back to them, still no luck. I suggested they delete all of the keys and add them back to the system now that all is well in terms of the lock assembly, the door functions properly and no more beeps when locking the doors or even when just shutting the car off. Car got wet years ago, but as I mentioned I replaced the alarm computby ericp - Main Forum
Great advice, I won't be in that area, but crossing Montana I plan to make sure I stay gassed up.by ericp - Main Forum
I'll get plenty of pics, and also look into the book mentioned here, thanks!by ericp - Main Forum
I recall you posting about it.by ericp - Main Forum
Tomorrow I am leaving MA on a 21 day trip around the country in the Boxster (01 Base) heading South first, then across, up the West coast and then back through Montana,SD, MN down to KY and then back to MA. Expecting to do about 9500 miles and see a lot of the country. Should be a fun trip! -Ericby ericp - Main Forum
Sorry if this is long, but just trying to get thoughts on this if anyone has experienced this or something similar. I had 2 keys and buttons on each of them wore out so that I could no longer lock or unlock the doors remotely, only using the keys in the door, that gets annoying as you may know. I had replaced the alarm computer in ~2008 and at that time didn't know the option to unlock the doorsby ericp - Main Forum
2001, sounds exactly the same as mine, thanks.by ericp - Main Forum
Hi All, Does the cabin filter have a cover over it? I am going to replace mine and I can't recall if there is a cover on it. I had the AC worked on and if there was a cover they must have not put it back on as I can see the cabin filter when I remove the covering over that section. Thanks, -Ericby ericp - Main Forum
On the '01 Base, would I need a hydraulic press to change the wheel bearing while I change the axle out using Pedro's instructions?by ericp - Main Forum
Mine made it ~170,000 miles on the left, right side still going strong. I think I'll replace them after I deal with the left side, I'll at least inspect them very closely. Can any ball joint tool be used or do I need a specific type for this car? Thanks, -Ericby ericp - Main Forum
