I am still battling the right headlight that goes out after about 30 seconds. When I switch the lights off and on again, it immediately goes on and after 30 seconds it goes out. Relay position F28, as shown in the diagram, is empty on my relay board so I reluctantly had to rule out a relay issue. Guys I am out of ideas. Any suggestions? I cant drive my baby at night and it is driving (no punby crumbum - Main Forum
Thank you. I will have a look. The strange thing is that, if I switch it off and then on again, the right light comes back on but then goes out 2 to 5 minutes later. Since there is a new igniter in there, the connection to the lamp is new. ???by crumbum - Main Forum
I have had some strange issues with the litronics on my 2000 Boxster S. The right headlight just turns off while I am driving. I have done the following (on expert advice) so far: Replaced both bulbs Replaced the igniter Replaced the ballast Replaced the headlight switch I am pulling my hair out of my head. I am running out of ideas on how to fix this. Any ideas?by crumbum - Main Forum
The common symptoms include both headlight bulbs burning out, which is why I suspected the stalk switch. I didn't touch the ignition switch or anything other than the high beamsby crumbum - Main Forum
Hi guys, I was driving home late last night, when I hit the high-beams on a dark road to get a better look at the curve coming up. Much to my shock, ALL lights went out. There I was, doing 80 in a turn on a dark road with NO LIGHTS. I frantically hit low and high beams and NOTHING. Turned the headlight switch on and off. Still nothing. When I pulled back on the high beams, it lit up. I drby crumbum - Main Forum
Still looking for a washer nozzleby crumbum - Parts for Sale
The left side headlight washer unit on my car has been broken since I bought it. Is there anyone that has one for sale?by crumbum - Parts for Sale
I just got done fixing EXACTLY the same problem as described here. My advice would be to check every component in the circuit. The problem in my case proved to be the LED bulb in the headlight assembly which was shorting out against the housing. It kept blowing the fuse. Once I replaced the bulb, everything worked fine.by crumbum - Main Forum
I just did this on my car. The yellow clip costs $5.77 at your local Porsche dealer. They might not have it in stock, so call ahead. Make sure you specify LEFT or RIGHT, since they are not interchangeableby crumbum - Main Forum
Thank you for the comments guys. I have changed the gearbox fluid, but have not changed the clutch slave cylinder or the brake fluid (which I believe also runs the clutch slave, right?) I did call a local independent who specializes in Porsches, explained to him that it REALLY crunches and grinds getting it into second if I dont double-clutch. He told me that it was the 2nd gear synchro. Faby crumbum - Main Forum
I have the typical 2nd gear synchro issue on my 2000 Boxster S. When I bought it, I (regrettably) did not do a PII and overpaid too. Yes, I can analyze the things I SHOULD have done, but I am trying to look forward on how to get us much enjoyment out of my purchase. I have already done some work on it myself (water pump, radiator, short circuit repair, transmission fluid, oil and filter) whicby crumbum - Main Forum
Ok, I found the problem. After A LOT of troubleshooting, I found that the front park light bulb had burnt out and fused against the socket. That caused the short. The bulb that I pulled out of there looks strange though. I have not seen it before. Looks like the following: I see that they are available on ebay, but cannot seem to find anything else about them. Anybody know?by crumbum - Main Forum
Ok, I just went after a fresh batch of fuses and popped one in. When I turned the light switch to Park, the right side marker fuse (A3) popped again. I still had the side marker and the tail light circuit off. Does this mean that the switch is suspect? Or could it still be somewhere in the harness?by crumbum - Main Forum
I removed the side marker and the tail light circuit board tonight and put in a fresh fuse in. When I switched the light switch on and POP. %%$&* !!!!!!! So, I am assuming that the short is somewhere in the wiring harness.by crumbum - Main Forum
I noticed that my right side tail light was out. I tested the light bulb by switching it from side to side and the bulb turned out to be ok. I finally tracked it down to the right side marker fuse (I think position A3). Trouble is, every time I replace it, immediately blows immediately. I am not a sparkie by any stretch of the imagination. Where (and how) do I start looking?by crumbum - Main Forum
The MAF sensor has been sold.by crumbum - Parts for Sale
I have a new, unused Mass Airflow Sensor for sale. It is a Bosch 0 280 218 055 Unfortunately I bought the wrong part (0 280 218 009). These parts go for $250 (and up, depending on where you buy it). I am offering it for $130 plus shipping.by crumbum - Parts for Sale
The vendor where I purchased the replacement pump from, said that they were out of stock and cancelled my order. So I decided to clean the old water pump and reinstalled it with the new gasket. When I performed the vacuum test on it, the system would not hold pressure. It made a terrible noise in the area of the water pump, so I decided to use a turkey baster to squirt some coolant in that areby crumbum - Main Forum
The Boxster that I bought has one lazy eye. I looked and it seems that it doesnt have a headlight bracket on the left headlight. I have looked for instructions on how to install it and set the knurled screws on it, but have not found any. Does anybody have instructions / link? BTW, there are a few more issues with this vehicle. I wish I had done a pre purchase inspection.by crumbum - Main Forum
Hi guys, Thank you for the responses. The water pump turns and does not have any wiggle at the bearing. Just quite a bit of calcification in 2 spots. Pedro, I did follow you instructions. It was very comprehensive and easy to follow. There was just one bolt under the engine mount that I had a hard time with. Before I removed the water pump, I pressed on the coolant pipe a few times. I got under the car and squeezed the coolant tube. Everytime I did that, coolant would start dripping out of that spot again. I removed the coolant pump (WHAT AN ORDEAL) to see the condition of the pump and gasket. See the pictures below what I found. There is no play in the bearing. Could this be as easy as just the gasket? Can I be that lucky? How would I know if it leaked at the pulley?by crumbum - Main Forum
I wonder why it dumped when I jacked the car up and it has not stopped dripping for hours. How about the leak in the front?by crumbum - Main Forum
I took my 2000 Boxster S for a little drive this morning. I planned to do an oil change (more on that in a separate posting) and went to get some supplies. When I returned home, I noticed coolant dripping out from the left front (running out under the bumper). I said some choice words and then decided to look at it while the car is jacked up. When I jacked the rear of the car up, I heard fluidby crumbum - Main Forum
