... as you may know I had been looking for a pair of headlights for some time. What I found new from Porsche is ridiculous! Close to $4000 for a set of halogens. It used to be that Magneti Marelli, Valeo and Auto Lighting all had offerings around $700 per set. Not anymore. eBay has a bunch of used headlights being offered but all with damaged inner lens. I've found that the problem with the mid-engined platforms is getting the power down on the ground without having the rear end jumping when the track is bouncy. So I set the shocks as soft as I can to keep the rear tires on the ground as much as possible. On very smooth tracks full hard works well for the rear. The reason I leave the fronts on 5 (mid setting) is that I love to come into turns hotby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum
... the bumpier the track, the higher (softer rebound) the setting. The smoother the track, the lower (stiffer rebound) the setting. Sebring is the bumpiest track ....... setting: 10 rear, 5 front. Homestead is the smoothest ........ setting: 1 rear, 5 front. These work for me. Other tracks are in-between and I compare to either one of my base tracks to set a new rebound. That's a flat every 20K! In my 300K miles I've had 2 flats and 1 ticket. That ticket was less than 3 months in (1998). Then I got my Valentine1 and zilch! Happy Boxstering, Pedro PS: Congrats Rick!by Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum
... the PSS9s I really lowered it. Now it's harder to get in and out on a regular basis and the front nose scrapes on the smallest inclines. Besides, my wife said that she ain't riding in it if I leave it like that. That settles it. Happy Boxstering, Pedroby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum
As most of you know, my car's odometer is at 299,800 It's been there for a while because I decided to retire her from track duty and give her a complete makeover. Honda made a big push back in the early 90s but no other manufacturer followed. Now several of the Korean brands already offer hydrogen powered vehicles. ... still be making internal combustion engines for many years. All of the GTs (GT2, GT3, GT4 ....) with its variants. They will also be making synthetic fuel for all of their older machines on the roads. This synthetic fuel, they claim, can be used by any ICE without modifications and will produce a smaller net footprint (miles vs miles) than an all electric vehicle. We shall see. .... what we've been saying since 1997 when the first mid-engined wasserboxer was introduced: I can do with a little more horsepower! It can handle 400 plus horses. We also have said, that a high-performance mid-engine, 2-seater won't take away sales from the BIG 911 sport cruiser. It just took them 24 model years to figure it out. She's being retired from track duty so only nice roads for now on. No need to replace PSS9s. I'll just re-set them for softer dampening. I will adjust the ride height upwards about 3/4 inch. Engine is in great shape. Keeping the Accusump for cold-start pre-oiling. Brakes are fine, although I am also refinishing the calipers. Same livery. Off to the paint shop this AM to see the progress.
