Sorry, correction: his solo album was called Fresh Wine for the Horses, if that mattersby SPG356 - Main Forum
The founder of the company, Rob Dickinson, is the former singer/songwriter for the '90's alternative rock band Catherine Wheel and is an Absolutely Certified 911 Nut. Thus the name "Singer". He had a solo album about 4 years ago called Fresh Water for Horses. At the end of one of the tracks you hear an air-cooled 911 going through the gears, then coming to a stop and shutting off. I chuckled whby SPG356 - Main Forum
Here's some info from someone that lives in the area..… Think of the Detroit are as a big doughnut. The hole in the middle is Detroit and the surrounding area is just fine, with most of it downright very nice. Detroit has problems, no argument there. But when, for example, 3 city blocks are inhabited by 4 or 5 residences it is a pretty good idea to consolidate the city (to save on electricalby SPG356 - Main Forum
My car (a '98 also) exhibited the exact same symptoms. It was a coolant level sensor that fixed my issue. Regards, Sebastianby SPG356 - Main Forum
Guys, I am in the automotive business and let me tell you, the race for content is going to get worse and worse, or better and better depending on how you look at it. Concerning daily drivers and standard issue transportation, everyone makes a relatively reliable car now. Everyone's cars are (basically) good looking, they start, they drive, they stop etc. The race among manufacturer's is to seeby SPG356 - Main Forum

But Never into 4th or 5th, when letting out the clutch. '98 Boxster 5 spd 83,000 miles. It started about 10k miles ago, I am just now addressing it. Could it be a motor mount? Within the last few hundred miles I am getting engine vibration at low rpm's which it never had before, but the tach needle is steady. Any help greatly appreciated!by SPG356 - Main Forum
Most likely a replica (the car) as it has black wiper arms and VW wheels vs silver arms and Porsche wheels. The other telltale is no Porsche crest on the end of the hood handle and no PORSCHE script on the nose below the hoodline. Dual outside mirrors are a hallmark of replicas as well. The one thing that you usually do not see on replicas are bumperettes which this one has. But I am guessing reby SPG356 - Main Forum
Guenter, I only said "Michigan" regarding the first two!! The picture with the hills is Colorado at a Boxster event some years ago. The image is by Gottfried, does anyone remember this event? According to the meta-data on the original image it was taken August 24th, 2001. Sebastianby SPG356 - Main Forum

QuotePLStout (Pearland,TX) Sorry to hear this. I met him at Boxstoberfest. He kept sticking fake bulletholes on the cars. Had the great pleasure of sitting with him for drinks in the evening. The world lost another gentle spirit, but him and Gottfried are kickin' back and swapping tales.by SPG356 - Main Forum
Dick Dittus was a charter member of Southeast Michigan Region and had been a P car driver for over 50 years. Being a 356 guy, I would always pick his brain about the good 'ol days, but man did he love his Boxster. Just as his friend Gottfried Hogh, a true gentleman in every sense of the word. RIP Dick, Sebastianby SPG356 - Main Forum
Thanks Marc, We both agree that no car is breakdown proof! The water pump is dry and I will take your advice, which is the same as my tech's--leave it alone if it is not showing any signs of failure. I will do this, however: replace the other two tensioners as one has failed already, replace the AOS and then do full inspections of the water pump and coolant tank at each service, which for me iby SPG356 - Main Forum
Hi Marc, Thanks so much for the great info. Can I ask your opinion with a different point of view? I failed to mention that the car is my daily driver (41,000 miles in 2 1/2 years) and I do take the car far away from home and also take some spontaneous long trips (400 or 500 miles). That is the reason I want to make the car as "Breakdown Proof" as possible. I am not naive to think that whateverby SPG356 - Main Forum
Greetings, 1998 Boxster 5 speed with 82,000 miles. Oil changed every 5,000 miles with Mobil1 0-40 Today the upper belt tensioner pulley seized and threw the belt; I will have those replaced tomorrow. This got me thinking about any preventive maintenance I should do this spring, as I want to lower the chances of getting stranded by something I could replace now. Some history: I purchased the caby SPG356 - Main Forum
QuoteBoxsterBob - San Carlos It's good to know that Zee Bee lives on. Bob, ZeeBee does in fact live on in the garage of Gottfried's sister Inge and her husband Jorge. The only difference is that the car now has a personalized plate that says "ZeeBee". (sorry fo rthe thread hijack!!)by SPG356 - Main Forum
QuoteBoxsterBob - San Carlos I sure miss his pics & posts. BBob, I certainly cannot post for him, but I do have his entire library of photographs. After his death, his sister Inge was visiting my wife and I and offered them to me as she knew I loved his work. I have used several of them in publications over the last decade and would love to share some with anyone who remembers Gottfried. Iby SPG356 - Main Forum

Greetings, I have a similar issue with the screech and thought it may be one of the pulleys. I hear it to the right and a bit behind me, that is why I ASSumed a pully. Is the starter located to the right of the driver? Thanks, Sebastian P.S. Pedro, thanks for letting me know about the new site; it feels like ten years ago!by SPG356 - Main Forum
