Lights on the new Macan.... with 918 like wheels...by AS2003 - Main Forum
From what I've read LED headlamps require less energy than Xenons and halogens. Further, they are easy to manipulate. In other words, they can become part of the car's overall design. I presume the LED option will soon overtake the Xenon option for the Boxster. Xenons will be standard, and LEDs will be the option. I think they look great on the 918. I haven't seen the 991 with the LED optioby AS2003 - Main Forum
I think Guenter is likely correct. The only way to introduce the 4 cylinder is to introduce it as a premium product---and then let it trickle down.by AS2003 - Main Forum
This is an interesting development. Releasing a 2015 GTS in the spring of 2014 should boost interest and sales. I presume the new 981 GTS will get the GT3 re-programmed steering, too. I just wish the long-rumored 981 Targa would appear.by AS2003 - Main Forum

It will be interesting to see the discounting that will start on the 2013s as the 2014s are now showing up in dealer inventories. Any predictions? There seems to be a lot of 2013s in stock around the country with some dealers openly advertising 7% off on auto trader and cars.com.by AS2003 - Main Forum
There was discussion in some of the 991 forums about retrofitting the rev-match, but the consensus seemed to be that it's more than just a software upgrade. Perhaps there are sensors in the gearbox, etc. In any event, I thought it was great and I wonder why Porsche is so quiet and unclear about this feature.by AS2003 - Main Forum
I drove a 2014 Cayman 6-speed with the rev-matching feature (enabled via the Sport Plus button with Sport Chrono) and was very impressed. This option is hardly advertised at all by Porsche and it's a shame. If you track your 981, or autocross your car, I would highly recommend this feature. In my view, it levels the playing field a bit with the PDK in that it makes downshifting from second toby AS2003 - Main Forum
Thanks for the thoughtful replies. Per the questions: I did drive the PDK primarily in Sport mode, but the Boxster did not have Sport Plus. I’m glad to hear that others have noticed big visibility improvement with Xenons at night and have had good experiences with the heated seats. Overall, a great car. If I were to order a 981, I would make sure it had both options.by AS2003 - Main Forum
As a follow-up to the original post: I returned to the Porsche dealer and pointed out the damage they did to my door in four specific spots. The dealer replaced all the scratched parts and properly completed the original repair (which was not done right the first time). This is a good news story in that the dealer did the right and proper thing without complaint. I have to say that their respby AS2003 - Main Forum
As background, in early 2005 I purchased a 2003 CPO Boxster base manual. In early 2009 I sold the 986 and purchased a new 2009 Boxster base manual. Late last month in LA I spent just short of a week with a 2013 Boxster base with PDK. For what it is worth, below are some of my personal observations: Interior: Despite the wide center console, there is noticeably more interior space in the cby AS2003 - Main Forum

This is a bit of venting to a community that I think will understand my frustration. Last week I took my car to the Porsche dealer, where I purchased my car new, for service. I presume while performing a warranty fix on the door, the dealer chipped the little airbag symbol on the door (see below). I would like them to fix this. I presume they will resist—and I would like the Board’s feby AS2003 - Main Forum
I was perusing the inventory of some dealers (labeled 2013s) and I came across some interesting option codes I have not seen before for the 981, including: 690 - Porsche Online Pro CD Radio P04 - Sport Package 6-spd plus PASM P91 - Warm Weather Package P93 - Sport Pkg. Without Sport Seats and my favorite: 423 - Coin & Cassette Holder Where is the 8-Track Holder holder option?by AS2003 - Main Forum
Glendora Ridge Road looks perfect. Getting there from the Santa Monica area looks tricky. Any suggestions on beating the traffic and where best to pick the road up from the west?by AS2003 - Main Forum
Thank you for the thoughtful replies and recommendations. This is very helpful! I'll have a Boxster for a few days out there so I am hoping for nice weather.by AS2003 - Main Forum
Greetings Wise Friends, I'm going to be visiting LA over the next several days and I decided to splurge and test out a 981 while I am there. I have heard nightmares about traffic. Can anyone kindly recommend some nice scenic places to drive where I can actually stretch the cars legs and get a good sense of its handling? I would preferably like to go south, as I will be heading to the more sceby AS2003 - Main Forum
Great post. I've been thinking about moving to a 997.2 for a long time (current 987.5 owner, previous 986 owner). After every 997 test-drive,I always get back in my 987.5 and find it so much more fun to drive. Nonetheless, the extra-cabin space and ability to get a glass targa top will likely lead me eventually to a 997/991. Congrats on your 997.2! Great color and sport seats.by AS2003 - Main Forum
I went to the one in the DC metro area and it was great. I went in thinking I was likely going to order a new 981 Boxster or Cayman, but left thinking about how I can swing a base 991. That's not a knock on the 981, it's just that I was really impressed with the new 991 on the track. Porsche puts on a great event. Enjoy it!!by AS2003 - Main Forum
Good to have you back. Congrats! 2009 (current) 2003 (previous)by AS2003 - Main Forum
Thanks for the comments. The 981 I drove did not have the full leather option or the enhanced electric steering option. Per the build quality: My comment was focused more on my sense that the general build quality of the vehicle was significantly better. All of the moving pieces just felt precise and especially solid in comparison to the 987 (& 986). This was most noticeable when openby AS2003 - Main Forum
I drove a 981 briefly this weekend. Here's my quick review for those that are interested: 1. PDK surprised me, but only in sport plus mode while using the paddle-shifters and driving hard. Under those conditions it was very impressive (like a Ferrari California). I'm not ready to abandon the manual yet, but it's nice to know the PDK is getting better and better. 2. It looks even better (andby AS2003 - Main Forum
Agreed-- if the new Cayman had a glass sunroof option I think I would seriously consider getting on the waiting list now. It's a shame they are introducing the Cayman so late in the year.by AS2003 - Main Forum
As a two-term Boxster owner I was hoping the new 981 Cayman would have a sunroof or a targa option. Alas, based on the latest spy shots of a still heavily disguised car, it looks unlikely the Cayman will get either option IMHO. The roofs of the cars in the spy shots have all been solid and the slanting roof line design suggests to me that the much discussed "targa" version of the Cayman is equalby AS2003 - Main Forum
I'm not sure what the demographics would be for this baby Boxster in Europe, but I think sales of reasonably priced luxury goods in Europe are going to continue to tumble. The high-end luxury market has proven to be more resilient, but I just don't see a healthy environment for a 30-40K weekend car anytime in the near future.by AS2003 - Main Forum
Great looking GT3. I think that car is going to age quite well and be increasingly sought after in the years to come based on its engine and lack of driver aids. Congrats!by AS2003 - Main Forum
I've done this experiment a couple of times: the difference for me between top up and top down on a long highway drive has been about 2-3mpg. This was as true for my 2003 986 as it is for my current 987.5.by AS2003 - Main Forum
Per Mike's comments on 09 Boxster prices... I have a 09 base, well optioned, with a little over 30K and in PERFECT condition. I also over maintain the car with frequent oil and filter changes. I would sell it in a heartbeat for $45K to buy a 997.2, but I think the trade and private sale price is almost 10K less than that. Having said that, I think an '09/'10 at $35K is the best buy Porsche outby AS2003 - Main Forum
Actually, this might not be such a bad purchase for a collector. First year available? Well optioned? It says, "Only 6500 miles! This is one fo the 1st 200 Boxsters ever built (actually rolled off the line in Zuffenhausen!). Absolutley perfect Glacire White over Nephrite Green Special Leather.
