Congrats to you! Beautiful car for sure. One day....by dghii - Main Forum
Those would look great on my Silver 2000S! How many miles on the car? I'm at 112k and running great.by dghii - Main Forum
Devils advocate for a moment. Forget about "Bose" for a minute. If a system has been tuned for a particular environment by (hopefully) audio engineer, why would a system that touts the ability to produce a flat frequency response an any audio environment be better? When the system is tuned for a flat response, is it tuned with the engine off, at idle, at speed? Again, I'm not touting Bose.by dghii - Main Forum
...I just wonder how I survived without this wonderful feature. Remember car seat belts that put themselves on automatically? Now that was a cool design!by dghii - Main Forum
Good discussion but remember that the energy may only be needed augment, as opposed to replace a power source (as stated above in MarcW's post). Unllike a watch, the 'self winding' movement would not need to power any mechanical device. Oscillation motion of a human arm is not required....think regenerative brakes, not fragile watch. What if the 'device' kept a doubled or tripled the battery lby dghii - Main Forum
...at any cost. I wonder why tire pressure sensors don't use self winding technology of simple wrist watches to function?by dghii - Main Forum
Great pics...I'm sorry for your bad luck. Perhaps a relief to know that its nothing that you did, or could have done to prevent the failure. You got good mileage out of the motor but, unfortunately nothing great compared to most modern cars. Too bad given the car and feeding you gave the car over the years. I will not consider replacing the bearing in my 2000S with 106K miles until the carby dghii - Main Forum

There are lots of Boxster's...more and more every year. The cars will be waiting for you when you are ready.by dghii - Main Forum
Apply common sense and I promise you won't screw anything up! If it doesn't work for you, try something else. Just because your plug is stripped does not mean that your plug is grossly over-torqued. The plug is soft metal. I had changed the oil 4 previous times in my car without a problem. No one else has worked on the car. My intervals between changes were consistent. My car is garage kepby dghii - Main Forum
Well the vice grips didn't work but I did try it a couple of different ways....around the diameter of the plug seemed like it might go but I just couldn't quite get it. FWIW, the chisel made short work of the problem as the drain plug is quite soft. I chiseled in at an angle on the outer edge of the plug and within a few taps with the hammer, the plug started to loosen. I then used the a pairby dghii - Main Forum
No need for an easy out yet... 1. You can try a socket that is close (even SAE) and tap it in with a hammer. 2. Vice grips. 3. Take a chisel and hammer and tap on the outside edge of the drain plug (this worked for me) Make sure you get a couple of extra plugs, or get a magnetic plug.by dghii - Main Forum
I looked at it Friday and it is well done...not step by step but certainly hits the important stuff.by dghii - Main Forum
There is a 98 Tip with just under 100K miles for sale by owner in our town for $9K and he's not getting much action. The car has been for sale for about three weeks and I've seen it in person. The car looks fine, not perfect but certainly looks like it's been cared for. I'm not in the market so I haven't called on the car. Last fall I sold a white 98 manual car for $8,200 that had 117K milesby dghii - Main Forum
Beautiful cars. Much more so in person than in the pictures. I can't wait for the cars to be 10 years old so I can afford one!by dghii - Main Forum
---would be a must if you owned a shop. For a home mechanic, it is not a big deal to fill and open the bleeder and keep an eye on the level for a few days. I flushed my system a year or so ago without any issues, and without the vacuum tool. Don't get me wrong, I think the tool is very cool and if available, I would have used it but oh well.by dghii - Main Forum
Good prices and closer to me than other sources. Nothing against the other sources, mind you. The job is not bad and a lift is not necessary although it might make for a little less reaching.by dghii - Main Forum

I had some luck on CL back in January. I picked up a drivers seat for $300 shipped from a seller in New Orleans. The seat in not perfect but in much better shape than mine was, with very dried out leather and a small tear that developed on the outside bolster. I am pleased with my purchase, given that I sold my old seat for $150 to a guy who recovers them. Shipping kills you if you don't haveby dghii - Main Forum
As for the bra, my son and his buddies cover their cars front ends with 3M blue painter tape to keep the bugs and rocks at bay. The tape peels right off with no residue.by dghii - Main Forum
Ok, this if from an internet search but is pretty cool...A shepherd was looking after his sheep on the side of a deserted road. Suddenly a brand new Porsche screeches to a halt. The driver, a young man dressed in an Armani suit, Ray Bans, Rolex watch, White Cerutti shoes, tailor-made mauve shirt, with a Boss tie. He gets out and asks the shepherd 'If I can guess how many sheep you have, can I keby dghii - Main Forum

Might want to go on the Autogeek website as it has a very active detailing forum. The owner is also very helpful answering questions.by dghii - Main Forum
