Greetings, My airbag light is on and my Durametric says that both buckles are the culprit. Here's my question: in the last three years or so I have replaced both buckles and also installed the updated gold-plated ground kit. Should I now also replace the ground kits along with new buckles? Thanksby SPG356 - Main Forum
It's funny how he calls it a "twin cam", it is known in the racing/356 world as a "four cam". Yes, I know he means per side, but it is still funny how he says that, kind of like how he says "Porsh"sometimes. Oh well, still cool that he has one. He's actually had that car for a few years; a picture went around a while back of him unloading it from a trailer.by SPG356 - Main Forum

QuoteLaz Other than a very long shift stick and vagueness, which could be attributable to a need for linkage adjustments, the car had a pretty modern feel. Oh, the steering felt a bit strange, but I think the front end needed a toe adjustment. Hi Laz, These are all signs that what you described needed to be refurbished and adjusted. Quotejlegelis I've owned a few older sports cars (TR's, Alfa's), and enjoyed many great times and drives with them, and appreciate them today when I see one on the road. However, I certainly don't miss the quality of the driving experience (or lack thereof) when compared to my Boxster. I find the suspension of older cars typically 'agricultural' in terms of sophistication, the reliability minby SPG356 - Main Forum
“When I say this is an exact reproduction, I mean exact,” says co-owner Rob Edwards. “The word exact has no wiggle room in its definition.” I wasn't going to say anything until I read that. Let me first say that the car is very well done and that I would love to own one. But if your going to say "Exact" with no wiggle room... The video shows chrome 5.5 x 15" wheels. Hi Bruce, OASIS is actually Ford Motor Company's dealer service site (Online Automotive Service Information System (OASIS).). The dealerships use it to look up any and all information on a vehicle ie recall info, warranty repairs, extended warranty info, dealer bulletins etc. Here is the official name of the device: but we always just call it "the black box". QuoteAS2003 As a follow-up to the original post: I returned to the Porsche dealer and pointed out the damage they did to my door in four specific spots. The dealer replaced all the scratched parts and properly completed the original repair (which was not done right the first time). This is a good news story in that the dealer did the right and proper thing without complaint. I have to say thaby SPG356 - Main Forum
I am a Porsche owner and also a new car dealer, just not Porsche's. If someone came in to my service department with an issue like that it would be fixed immediately with an apology. Whether they react the same I cannot say, but I do know that you deserve to have this fixed. I believe the customers rights are to have their car returned to them in the same (or better) condition than when it wasby SPG356 - Main Forum

QuotePedro (Weston, FL) ... yes. Hook up a PST-II, PIWIS or Durametric unit to the car and with that you'll be able to determine where the fault is. Happy Boxstering, Pedro Which system should I check? Regards, Sebastianby SPG356 - Main Forum
The car is bone dry beneath the seats, I take Marc's good advice and clear out the drain holes twice a year since it is driven year round. I did buy a new ignition switch from the local dealer, but they are only a mile from home and will let me return it, so no worries there. So, what next? I suppose the CLU could still go bad without getting wet. Any suggestions? Thanks as always, Sebastianby SPG356 - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario You also may be experiencing difficulty getting the ignition key out. The part is available at an Audi dealer. Hi Guenter, Really?!! I would never have put the two together. I replaced the electrical portion a couple of years ago for another odd electrical issue and will now do that again. I have no problem taking the key out, but that was an issue the first time. Guys, '98 Boxster 5 speed, 111,000 miles. Cold morning here in Michigan, however I drive my car year round. When I got in the car this morning and started it, the driver's window was going up and down about a quarter of an inch and the door lights were on. The only way to get it to stop was by pressing the window switch up. The window would stop for a bit before going again, but the door lightby SPG356 - Main Forum
QuoteBruce In Philly (2000S Morte) n/t Bruce, I think you did very well, especially after looking at the photos. A CARFAX showing accident damage with an animal is pretty unusual but the inspection clearly showed no real damage. My examples were for daily driver/transportation situations.by SPG356 - Main Forum
QuoteBruce In Philly (2000S Morte) That was a big variable for me. So, maybe I got a deal typical for a 1 accident on CarFax. Regardless, I think I got a killer deal and am very happy. My price target was $55K and all my research pointed to a low mileage C2 not an S. I heard a rumor that a local guy purchased an '09 C2 stripped at a dealer for $50K but I really doubt this. QuoteMarcW Anyhow, while it may seem a bit overkill I really do not see anything wrong with this. Do an oil/filter service now and then again at the next 5K mile interval and then resume your 5K mile oil/filter service schedule. However, if LN has some recommendation on when the 1st oil change is done after an LN bearing install you have to go by what LN says. Thanks Marc, I will err on the sby SPG356 - Main Forum
Does anyone who has done the LN conversion know what their recommended 1st oil change interval is? I will stick with the 5K for regular intervals. I bought it from Pelican as it was more convenient while ordering the new clutch and flywheel; I do not see any info on either site so if someone has that info to share it would be greatly appreciated. I saw that when researching when I should change the oil after my own upgrade...Very Interesting to say the least.by SPG356 - Main Forum
Guys, I replaced my original IMS bearing with the LN engineering bearing. All went well and the original bearing looked/felt fine, but I am glad I did it. It was installed at @ 107,500 miles which is halfway between my 5,000 mile oil/filter change interval. The car is now at 109,000 miles and of course an oil/filter change was done at the time of the bearing installation. I cannot find any infoby SPG356 - Main Forum
Hi Bruce, I am guessing you want to stay away from NY/NJ cars because of flooding? Good call. I am a dealer in Michigan and have access to Manheim prices. Email me at spg356@sbcglobal.net and I can get you info tomorrow. Regards, Sebastianby SPG356 - Main Forum
QuoteSPG356 Thanks for all of the advice. I have ordered the parts along with the puller. I went with the Pelican factory bearing with the stronger seal. OK, I have now waffled and will likely order the LN bearing tomorrow and send back the Pelican unit if it has already been shipped. As was pointed out to me, the extra $450 for the LN bearing on top of a $2,000 + job is probably worth it no maby SPG356 - Main Forum
Thanks for all of the advice. I have ordered the parts along with the puller. I went with the Pelican factory bearing with the stronger seal. I have put 67k of the 107k on the car and I bought it 4 years ago for $15,000. If it blows up now it still cost me less to drive than leasing a Ford Fusion. Greetings, I will be doing a clutch replacement on my '98 5 speed with 107k. I am looking into replacing the IMS bearing and have questions regarding the puller that Pelican and LN sell. 1) Is it necessary to do the job? 2) If so, are there any do-it-yourselfers out there that will rent or sell me one?
