I just heard on the news that a bunch of cars had their airtbags set off, and their computers fried (cars won't start) when lightning hit nearby. This was on the Tioga Pass road of Yosemite N.P.by EdSac - Main Forum
There's been many statements here about driving your car like you stole it. Well, in the case of my Fiero, I have to do just that. I'm going to sell it because I essentially don't use it. It didn't pass smog for sale. I was told there was carbon build up (HC). Just like the old days of cars, especially English sports cars. Remember "decarbonizing the head?" So, in went some "guaranteedby EdSac - Main Forum
We sure do like our G37S Infiniti convertible (Like the Boxster/ Boxter, its not Infinity). Easy to drive for the wife with it's automatic and manual options. Full of geegaws, some useful. And sporty like a 1,000 pound heavier Boxster.by EdSac - Main Forum
We went down to Central California on portions of the PCH, 1, and 101 around San Luis Obispo and Ventura. Our main objective was to see some wildflowers. But it looks like the EXTENDED periods of rain we had here, up to 200% of normal, flummoxed the flowers. My best guess is that they're mostly just late. Anyhow, the weather was nice for top down driving, up to 80F, and the trees and grass weby EdSac - Main Forum
Or come on out to California. See the pictures from Napa Valley, yesterday, under the title spring has sprung. We're starting to plan our mostly annual, wildlflower trip. Probably head out next week or so to the central coast of California. Pictures may include NBC. But, we'll see. Don't want to offend anyone.by EdSac - Main Forum

Those of you looking for a spring drive up the California coast, heed this. Highway One has slid out at the northern end, north of the burg of Big Sur, as it is wont to do. The TV people said it may be a while, days, weeks, before it is open to normal traffic. The best info is at Happy touring.by EdSac - Main Forum
Thankfully, we don't have a "mud season" around here.by EdSac - Main Forum

Temps went up to about 60 F today. Put the top down on my convertible ( NBC ). It's supposed to rain Thursday and Friday. But then it should be top down weather again. Almonds are in full bloom. Wildflowers are starting. Pictures soon.by EdSac - Main Forum
Even worse than the prices in Death Valley where Pedro was, is Gorda at the south end of 1, Big Sur. I just checked and Wikipedia verified, and I've heard it from other sources, that Gorda has the highest prices in the '48. (Parenthetically. there may be places off paved roads or high in the mountains like Kennedy Meadows in the south Sierra that may be higher seasonally). So, when you drive tby EdSac - Main Forum
With all the rain we've been having you were very lucky the road hadn't slid out. Having said that, you must not have had too much in the way of inhibiting traffic!by EdSac - Main Forum
Had the top down again today. But that will be the last for a while. At least a week of rain. But, we need it. You folks in the midwest and southeast will have the good weather. After this rain, wildflower season here. Watch out for slush out there!by EdSac - Main Forum

I hope you meant "Honey do list" not "Bucket list." they are different, you know. 71F here today and will be tomorrow.by EdSac - Main Forum
My Corvair, with the right tires and tire inflation, was great in slippery conditions. Volkswagens and early Porsches were good, too, if you paid attention. My worst car for slippery conditions was my '64 Pontiac GTO. All that power and bad weight distribution made for rubber in all four gears. I think it's a little ironic that Ralph got after the Corvair, when in my experience the GTO was mby EdSac - Main Forum
The NBC nightly news was showing the snow in Dallas re: the Superbowl. Somebody was out there driving their silver Boxster, or rather, sitting in their spun out Boxster. Not too good in the snow and ice?by EdSac - Main Forum
We saw the first almond blooms today. Actually, it is typical that they start around now, and we have had above normal temperatures. If you lived in the central valley of California this is what you would see (most of the US's almonds come from Ca.): From a couple of years ago...by EdSac - Main Forum
Yes, it had been very foggy until yesterday when that strong north wind blew it away. Although, as in the Bay Area, it's been clear above about 1500 feet. The car is a 2009 Infiniti G37S hard top convertible. The car drives like a Boxster with an additional 1000 pounds. The roads we went on today have been traveled by us many times in the Boxster. I really can't tell much difference as I pby EdSac - Main Forum
It has been very foggy here for some time, but now the sun is out. We went for a drive about 60 miles east of Sacramento to the foothills of the Sierra, and a couple of wineries there. We recommend Story Winery east of Plymouth in the "Shenandoah Valley" for it's Zins. Incidentally, I don't have a Boxster anymore. I was one of the few whose car was a lemon which needed to be fixed twice a yby EdSac - Main Forum
Almost as warm here as anywhere in the 48. Can't touch Palm Springs or southern FLA though. May go for a drive today with the top down. If we do, I'll post pictures. I have seen some hardy souls around here driving with the top down already. Around 60 F here. Hang in there folks.by EdSac - Main Forum
I doubt it. The policy's small print needs to be read. Timed events are excluded, although DE's are educational. Safest thing is to talk to your agent. Or don't crash.by EdSac - Main Forum
Make sure you've got plenty of tread on your tires and plenty of gas in your tank. I've done a couple of Driver Education days. It's a hoot! Yes, you do get to test your car and your driving ability. Be a little careful, though. You can go off and do some damage.by EdSac - Main Forum
Paso? Or taking really long lunches! Have you been tasting at the Edna Valley wineries?by EdSac - Main Forum
Nice weather in CA this week. Hit 70 F here in Sacramento today. Put the top down today. Those elephant seals are something.by EdSac - Main Forum
Yep, your picture (and this next one) were taken about one mile south over Conway Summit from my snow picture. This second one was taken in May of a different year, though.by EdSac - Main Forum
Highway 395 along the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada. Elevation 8000 ft.. Temperature 60 F. In March a couple of years ago. On the way to Death Valley. The top was put down after the picture was taken. The quality is poor because this was scanned in the pre-digital camera days.by EdSac - Main Forum
