I replaced just the switch vs the entire assembly. Problem solved.by Greg - Main Forum
Makes sense. Let me follow up with this. I started yesterday the process for removing the entire assembly. I followed this article: See figure 3, part C. That torx screw fell down somewhere in the dash. Any idea on replacement size?by Greg - Main Forum
99 Boxster Over the years, I've had the occasional issue where I had to jiggle the steering wheel in order to turn the key and start the car. Nothing big. Monday of last week, I had to turn the key a couple of times to get it to start. I'd get a flash on the dash. I could still hear the click of the clutch switch. I chalked it up to just a gremlin. Later last week, I had trouble turning the kby Greg - Main Forum
That was the missing piece of information that I needed to help figure this out. I'll check my line and canister. Is there a way to test the canister?by Greg - Main Forum
Thanks. I saw that post and was going to follow. While there is a separate code for the gas cap, I can't ignore the fact that the CEL goes on after I fill up my tank.by Greg - Main Forum
I'll check that.by Greg - Main Forum
1999 Boxster with 127k miles. This issue started a couple of years ago. I'd fill up the car with gas and within 10 miles my CEL goes on. P0446 code was the reading. Sometimes it would go off after the next fill up, sometimes I could make it go off by just re-seating the gas cap. So, what did I do? Bought a new gas cap. No issues at all this summer, until about a week ago. Filled up with gby Greg - Main Forum
Put in my new regulator. I'm trying to see if there are any issues with it when I raise and lower the Window. I'd like to do it with the door panel off. Can that be done without screwing up anything with the airbag system as there is a bag in the door? I'm thinking maybe I could disconnect the battery and take apart the entire door like a normal repair, but then just reattach the airbag, recoby Greg - Main Forum
Interesting. I drive mine from March into November, depending on weather. Usually just to/from work. It does get parked outside, though. This time, the failure was that the cable jumped off of one of the wheels. No plastic breaking. Why would the passenger side give me more fits than the driver side?by Greg - Main Forum
Replacing my passenger window regulator for the 3rd time. This time the failure was within 2 years so the part is covered via warranty. I always mark where on the window it is attached and I have marks underneath the car where the bottom of the regulator is attached. Any hints for making sure that this one doesn't break?by Greg - Main Forum
You may want to start a new thread with your question because this thread is old and if no one is monitoring it, they won't see your post. That said, I traced my issue to a gas cap that is going bad as it would happen within miles of filling up with gas and then eventually go away.by Greg - Main Forum
Pedro, Any hints or direction on how to do that repair? I'm trying to also figure out why one went bad in 2 years.by Greg - Main Forum
I'll give that a try, Marc. I'll also check the manual. I know that when you unplug the battery there is a procedure to get the windows to auto close and auto open. That one, I believe, is to raise and lower the windows 3 or 5 times.by Greg - Main Forum
How does one reset the window limit? If I recall, I think I adjusted all items on the new regulator to match the old one. Maybe that wasn't enough.by Greg - Main Forum
Two years ago I replaced the window regulator on my passenger door for my 99. The plastic piece that guides the cable where it enters one of the pulleys broke off. I chalked it up to wear and tear. Well, two years later and I think it broke again. I haven't opened the door to figure out where it broke but I can tell something isn't right in there. Both times it seemed like it broke when theby Greg - Main Forum
Thanks, Pedro. I'll start with that purge line and go from there.by Greg - Main Forum
Thanks, Marc. Any idea where the vent valve is physically located? I know that the canister that it connects to is behind the right front wheel well.by Greg - Main Forum
EVAP canister shutoff valve below limit.by Greg - Main Forum
1999 Boxster It threw a P0446 code today while driving. I'm fairly certain I had this same code about 4 months ago. At that time, I cleared the code. Took another 4 months for it to show up again. Thoughts on the issue?by Greg - Main Forum
I've got 110+ miles on mine. You replace it when it goes out. I had an Acura Integra that went 130k before it needed a clutch.by Greg - Main Forum
Of course you can use jumper cables and jump it from another car. You have to get the front hood open. If you don't have the power in the battery to do so, see above regarding pulling that cable. There is another access to the cable that is under the dash above where the fuse box is.by Greg - Main Forum
Great advice on the test, Marc!by Greg - Main Forum
I'm sure it gives me some extra HP too I'll look to get one.by Greg - Main Forum
Thanks, Pedro. The part number on my cap is 996.106.447.01. It seems to fit tight. Any way to check it? I don't see any leaks around there. There is just a coolant mark from where I spilled when filling it.by Greg - Main Forum
The coolant I bought said it was universal and compatible with any color anti freeze. The other mitigating factor is that about 8 years ago I hit a curb and tore part of the system up front. The entire coolant system dumped. I had it repaired at an independent that I trust. I'm not 100% sure what type of coolant he used. I will have to ponder this one.by Greg - Main Forum
On a long drive last weekend, the low coolant light flashed on my 99 Boxster. Got out and let the car cool. Sure enough, it was low. Still could see the level but it was below the min line. Ended up buying a 50/50 pre mix (water and coolant) from AutoZone as they were the closest. Added 1-2 quarts. Level hasn't gone down, but I didn't think I had a leak. Just probably lost some over the 8by Greg - Main Forum
Thanks, Marc. Something in my head tells me that it is the same double relay that operates the top as well. I could be wrong, but I thought that is what it was from memory when I had my relay go out.by Greg - Main Forum
QuoteRoger987 with how well these cars are designed and built. A 99 boxster is a 15 or 16 year old car. To think that the spoiler has gone up and down a kazillion times, in nasty conditions - wind, rain, cold, heat, and only now might be starting to say it's tired, well...that's impressive. That is for sure, Roger. 115k miles. Original clutch. Have only replaced the front brake pads (albeit Iby Greg - Main Forum
99 Boxster Driving down the highway today, the light went on for the rear spoiler. I was able to look back there and see it was still extended. I stopped for gas and it had retracted as normal. That said, the light remained on until I turned the car off. When I went back there, it appears that one end (passenger side) had maybe 1/8" of give when I lightly pushed down on it. Anyway, got in tby Greg - Main Forum
