Thanks Maurice, I was hoping to hear from the "top expert" himself! I will look for any telltale marks on the pushrod setting. I also tried to mimic what the passenger side length looked like. What is the top movement reaction from a longer versus shorter push rod position? Or, should I just perform several trial and error attempts? I was worried about changing the setting too much for fearby nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
A little help, please! This is a 2008 987. When I open the top, the weather stripping on the windshield gets pulled back and makes a "snap" sound. It seems to be only happening right in the center - near the top release latch. It's kind of like the top drags back rather than lifting slightly up as the top is retracted. Here's a pic. I know it doesn't look horrible, but it does make a loud noby nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
The trick is that not too many speakers fit and the front speakers have a special mounting cage. whall's renntech link is pretty good. I did this project on my '01 and have some good pictures showing the process if you need more ( I just have to find them!) I ended up cutting out the OEM speakers and re-using the cage. A bit scary at first, but doable if you are handy.by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
I rolled out today! Just took a 45 mile trip for a gallon of milk. Earliest start of the season ever, and I'm north of Guenter.by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
Welcome! I did the same thing with my first boxster. Kept opening the door to the garage to look at it for at least couple weeks. Even posted about it on the old board. May it provide you with many miles of permagrin in 2012!by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
Sorry for the post hijack, but is the durametric needed to reset service reminders? The actron code readers don't appear to be able to. How do you guys that DIY oil changes fix the reminder on the computer.by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
I may have solved it. Found a link on RennTech that referenced a loose oil filler cap, among other causes. Sure enough, oil filler cap was loose. Sheesh, is it too much to ask that a professional technician understand how to properly tighten a cap? I'm losing faith in having anybody else work on my car. This was a new to me indy shop. I thought I would give them a try since they "specialiby nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
I have been waiting for an excuse to buy a OBDII scanner and unfortunately I have one. The "visit workshop" engine light came on immediately after a refueling stop. I thought it was a gas cap related error, but it doesn't appear so. Two codes listed P2189 and P2187 "system too lean @ Idle" (banks 1 and 2) This also comes after I recently had a local indy do an oil change and reset the "servicby nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum

Congrats on the new ride. I thought my 300 mile trip for my new 08 was a road trip, but you put that to shame. Enjoy. Fill us is on how the PDK grows on you.by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
I would use it when I'm in the market. I had to purchase two tires this summer from TR, but couldn't use the link since it was an insurance deal. It would be nice if TR could provided a way for members who order via phone or other link to acknowledge PB as a "I saw your ad here" or enter PB as a code during the ordering process.by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
I did this job on my 2001 a while back. Had the same symptoms as the OP describes. I found this ratcheting nut driver from Lowes helped get that tiny screw out when all others failed: Another little trick that helped me position myself to get access to the area: Open the drivers door. Place a hard plastic adult beverage cooler next to the door sill. Plant butt on said cooler and lay your baby nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum

A friend of mine spotted this 959 at a Concourse in Michigan recently. I don't know a lot about this model other than what I read on the Wikipedia site as a first run "supercar" class. Very interesting! Does anybody have any other info or direct experience with the 959?by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
Bob, I've used Raggtop since 2004. Usually twice per season application. I love it. The cleaner is easy and effective. The sealer is easy to apply and works. Beads nicely. Bird poop cleans up easily, etc. I usually tape and paper the windows, but if you don't, cleanup from overspray on the windows or paint is easy. I just use a quick detailer spray on the paint for cleanup. Try it. You'by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
Thanks, all good points. My biggest concern is the performance disparity between the new vs old fronts and rears. Will keep pondering... Just learned that the wheel is bent also. Dealer and indy both say repairs are usually successful. Any experience with wheel repair? This sucks! My driving season is even shorter than Guenter's and I miss it already!by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
I've seen this topic in past threads, but it has hit me this time so I am looking for the "current thinking" on the matched tire issue. I hit a pothole and blew a bead on my right front. Pilot sport PS2's, N-1, original tire (2008 MY), 19" with 11,000 miles. Tread depth is between 6/32 and 7/32 which is just over the 30% wear mark. Seems like I need to at least replace both fronts according tby nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
It's kinda like spotting the first Robin in spring. Sorry to vent, but I have some serious cabin fever. Need to get the 987 on the road soon! Way up here in Traverse City Michigan we still have snow on the ground and I even still have snow on the roof of my house! But, today it was a whopping 42 deg F, most of the snow has cleared from my driveway, and the roads are starting to clear of the sby nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum

Marc, You should be fine. I live in Michigan and cross into Canada frequently. As long as you have a passport it is usually routine. The usual questions entering are: what's your purpose?; How long will you be here? Any firearms?, any tobacco?. Sometimes they ask for vehicle registration. If it's not in your name or is leased, it can stall things. The only other time I have seen anybody getby nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum

Nice reference - thanks. The site produced a list pretty close to the code list I got from the dealer. Apparently I have the I199 "battery disconnection switch", anybody know what this is?by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
It's doable, even for a girthy inflexible guy like me. As long as you're ready to utter a few obscenities in the process. I found this right angle ratcheting screw driver very helpful in the tight space. |0||p_product_quantity_sold|1&pl=1¤tURL=%2Fpl_Screwdrivers%2Band%2BNut%2BDrivers_4294857616_4294937087_%3FNs%3Dp_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_quantity_sold|1%26page%3D3by nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
I think that post was from me. I also have a RS60 with PSE and had a "rattle" while accelerating through 2,100 rpm or so. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the whole muffler assembly. It was quiet for a while then it reappeared. I just live with it because it is minor and honestly the "PSE on" exhaust note is so intoxicating I forgive this slight quirk. No 918. That was a bummer. The guy at the Porsche kiosk said the 918 was there for press week only. I was disappointed since they implied on the web site that it was going to be there - and I guess it was - just not when I was thereby nmanitou (Doug in MI) - Main Forum
Porsche was back at the show this year. This was my first time attending and was wowed and overwhelmed with all the eye candy. Here are a few samplings from the Porsche stable... Cayman R Boxster Spyder turbo 911 Speedster Panamera BMW, Audi and VW were well represented.
