I think they are being overly cautious on this one as the battery is in a fairly enclosed space with in the car, so I don’t see what the air circulation would do. Many of my clients use form fitted covers from multiple vendors with Ctek units, and I've never heard of any problems. I have covers that are made from a flannel like material over my cars, have used them for years. Just make sureby JFP in PA - Main Forum

You need to seriously talk to a couple of quality independents. We recently had a very similar episode where the dealer told the owner around $4-5K to fix the exact same issue on a 2000 base car. When all was said and done, the job was completed for less than $1500, all in (new actuator assembly, actuator chain ramps and an oil change). Sometimes I have no idea where the dealers get off with tby JFP in PA - Main Forum
A PST II/PIWIS unit can do diagnostics on them to see what is going on...........by JFP in PA - Main Forum
We stopped using Mobil 1's 0W-40 a long time ago, when UoA's showed the oil was basically toast after only 2-3K miles of mild to cool weather use, once we even saw that level of performance in a Cadillac, which is ridiculous.by JFP in PA - Main Forum
I'm sure that a 5W-40 won't harm the CRV in any way, other than a miniscule drop in MPG. As for the 0W-40 Mobil, as long as you "short changed" it, it should also be a "no foul, no penalty" issue..............by JFP in PA - Main Forum
On a Honda, unless it is highly modified and run really hard, I'd go with a good 5W-30 (Castrol has a very highly regarded Syntec in that weight). Honda street engines seem to like that weight range and the added "hot" weight protection is a plus, without sacrificing flow when cold or fuel mileage. If the car is modified, or run hard (track days) in a hot weather environment, then I’d consideby JFP in PA - Main Forum
Not at all; and considering some of the issues Toyota has had over the years with their oiling systems, I'm not surprised either........ At least when they went from a 5W-30 to a 5W-20 for the 4.6L in 2010, at least they admitted it was for fuel economy reasons and recommended changing it (if it is a full synthetic) at least every 5K miles. God only knows why they would want you to use a 0W-5..by JFP in PA - Main Forum

Extremely poor UoA’s, inability to “stay in grade” (advertised weights) after low miles, etc………….. You are much better off with either a 5W or 10W-40 product, preferably not one from Mobil 1……by JFP in PA - Main Forum
I'd still check the system out, Tips can go very expensive on you if you don't pay attention to them. If memory serves, they retain code info....by JFP in PA - Main Forum

But the $49 kit is a well made option for those not inclined to fabricate one of their own, and with it, the Optima is a 5 min. install. "Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?"................by JFP in PA - Main Forum
Your Tiptronic control module has gone into the Limited Driving Program due to an electrical or electronic fault. I'm not sure if a Durametric system can diagnose this, you may need access to a PST II/PIWIS.............by JFP in PA - Main Forum
You are also going to need to buy an adaptor kit (Yellow Dog Motorsports makes a nice one Yellow Dog Motorsports )...........by JFP in PA - Main Forum
I'd also replace the oil pump drive shaft (the OEM unit is pretty lame) with the LN unit, and I give Charles Navarro a call about the power steering cooler he was working on...........by JFP in PA - Main Forum
The Ctek 800 is a good entry level unit, with full de-sulfating capabilities. It will be fine for your car. Be sure to order the cigarette lighter adaptor for it. If your particular garage installation requires long leads between the maintainer and the car, let me know; there are some neat extension cords available, but they don’t come from Ctek………….by JFP in PA - Main Forum
VarioCam goes back to 1991 in the 968's. All Boxsters have had versions of VarioCam; the early cars had VarioCam (single cam angle change capability), the later cars had VarioCam Plus (infintely variable cam angle change within limits of actuator)..........................by JFP in PA - Main Forum
The only real difference is in how fast the unit will bring the battery up to full charge; otherwise they are the same. Something to consider: No Battery Tender product has a de-sulfating cycle built into its charge program. With battery sulfating being one of the leading causes of premature death, having it de-sulfated every time it is on the maintainer should significantly increase the batterby JFP in PA - Main Forum
It is easier, and quicker, to use the B90 tool system as you would not have to remove the hub carriers, which adds a lot of time to the process.by JFP in PA - Main Forum
