I think you have to subtract another 15-20% from an old Boxster's "fun" quotient due to the collateral getting nickle-and-dimed effect...also contingent on level of do-it-yourselfishness, of course. So, 75% of the fun for 15% of the cost? Still not too shabby...by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
Apparently Chinese military personnel have been appropriating Porsches as their "company cars", lol. And also apparently, the gov't is none too pleased about this turn of events... P.S. Back today from the NER PCA Spring Ramble this weekend at Mt. Washington: 147 cars, about 147x2 attendees, gorgeous weather, not-quite-perfect roads but still a blast. Any PB'ers there? Saw lots of '13 Boxstersby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum

Although I'd probably not opt to upgrade my beautiful '09S any time in the immediate future, I definitely get excited at the thought of that engine in a Box. My '01 MR2 Turbo was nothing short of a blast to drive. And that only had 200HP. With 300+... this would be an absolute screamer. With a turbo engine, the body's natural accelerometers all come into play. Everything isn't so frickin' lineaby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
...then why is it dangerous to press on the crest to close the front trunk lid? I always figured that warning was due to the fact the crest is made of plastic and would break...by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum

I've personally never encountered any of these red-light cameras, but I'm totally willing to believe they cause more harm than good and are just another form of invasive revenue-enhancement. I don't go running red lights (on purpose), but I would sure be PO'd if I got a ticket in the mail from committing a rolling-right-turn violation when there was zero traffic around. Just sayin'....by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
First Boxster ('03S, 2006-2009) was my daily driver, and current Box ('09S) was my daily driver for the first two years, to the tune of 28K miles...mostly because there wasn't a viable alternative (I know, twist my arm...) Since getting the Impreza this year, though, I've been only driving the Boxster when it's pleasant to have the top down...and for a lot of the summer it was just plain too hotby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum

Happened to notice this in an emailed Costco ad; have no idea if it's a great deal or not but thought perhaps some DIY-ers might like to know it was there: At first I thought it was a Boxster in the pic, but probably a 996 more likely. Can't quite tell... from that roofline I was thinking Cayman, but not with the 986-style headlights...by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
If you follow the link on the photographer's name, they're all talking about London, ON, so it seems that's the London in question.by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
Did Eric do that painted center console (like he did mine), or was it a factory option? And are the twin exhaust tips so that people think it's an S, or is there some other reason for them?by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum

Can't recall if I had one on the old '03 (I definitely don't have one on the '09), but those little round convex blind spot mirrors that you stick on the top-right of your driver's side view mirror have worked very well for me. At one point I bought a bunch and put one on each of our cars. I'm not sure if that's what you mean by "blind spot warning" or not (I suspect you're talking about somethinby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
I've got the Venture Shield, and I didn't realize how easily it scratches up. I wipe down the car with those yellow micro-fiber cloths after a car wash (the no-touch kind of course) and after a while I noticed the clear bra was all scratched up. They managed to get it back up-to-snuff when I had the car detailed at the dealer, but I didn't even know how to fix it myself.by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
I asked my service manager for the info you requested about the old HPFP, and all he was able to give me was the part number: 9A111031501. As for who the manufacturer was, all he says he was able to ascertain is that it was made in Germany.by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
In fact, I took the Box into the dealer after the first few "Emergency Transmission Run" messages, and they checked it, and had nothing to offer me in terms of an explanation. Every time I was there and chatting with the service manager for a year and a half, I'd ask him if they figured out what the message meant. He basically shrugged. This isn't something I could show them when it happened, becby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
I can inquire about manufacturer / part #... I assume you mean the new one rather than the old one (in case they're different)? Here's what the invoice shows for the hpfp-related work (don't know if these are part #s or just some kind of codes): 1 000-043-301-44 high-pressure pump f 1 9a1-106-305-00 sealing 1 999-707-625-40 O-ring 1 900-123-007-30 alum seal ring (all prices listed as n/c, of cby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
So today was the first time I got to try the oil-changed and updated-high-pressure-fuel-pump-equipped Boxster out on the highway. My emotions range from pleasant surprise to outrage. The pleasant surprise is that this basically feels like a different car...one with a much smoother-responding throttle. It always seemed that the power delivery was a little bit "rough" under load (i.e., when I reaby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
...then those $3 "New car smell"-flavored air fresheners I spotted at AutoZone the other day might be a really, really good investment!by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
Thanks... one of those threads mentions the "Emergency Transmission Run" error message as also relating to the HPFP problem, something I did not realize was the case. I used to get those quite often, esp. when the car was newer. Had to shut off the ignition and turn it back on to clear it.by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
I took my '09S in for an oil change the other day and found out about the high-pressure fuel pump recall. I searched the board and found a mention of it "in passing" about ten months back, but thought I'd just put the info out again because it may save folks a trip to the dealer... Apparently this recall pops up when you bring in the car, but they don't notify you otherwise. Plus, for whatever rby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
Volkswagen to Purchase Remaining Porsche Stake for $5.6 Billion By Nicholas Comfort - Jul 4, 2012 4:29 PM ET Volkswagen AG (VOW) agreed to buy the 50.1 percent stake in the Porsche SE automotive business that it doesn’t already own for 4.46 billion euros ($5.6 billion).
