GT3s are a real handful especially the older ones. It is basically a track car for the street. I remember a few folks on the old board had them and totaled them. They can easily get away from you as many found out the hard way. Don't know if your model year has PSM but the ones I remember being crashed did not. Good luck and enjoy.by patrick - Main Forum
I purchased four new tires from a Club store and specifically asked the kid behind the desk that I wanted one of their more experienced installers with high end wheels to mount and balance the tires because my wheels were pristine and alloy and I did not want them tweaked. The kid handed the job to a particular guy and the tire dept. manager came out furious and got involved and said no way and lby patrick - Main Forum
I just checked in my garage, I must have the only set they ever manufactured. I have Pilot Sports 255 40 17s and they came from the dealer I don't think you spoke with anyone.by patrick - Main Forum
Could not find any in stock (Tire Rack, Costco etc) and none were scheduled in Michelin production. Finally found a set at a dealer... ouch $$$$. Maybe they were waiting for the switch over to the new tires.by patrick - Main Forum
I recently picked up a nail in the rear of my 97 986 17" rear tire. It would not fit in the front trunk with the spare removed. I could not close the trunk. I'm afraid the tire rides on the front seat or on the lap of your passenger. I had the shop remove the tire and I could carry the rim in the front trunk.by patrick - Main Forum
I've had auto upholstery shops repack the seats and/or replace the seat springs on a few of my old cars.by patrick - Main Forum
The side doors and larger integrated air scoop give it a more aggressive, exotic, Italian like styling look. Aluminum body panels will make it lighter, more prone to door and rock dings and more expensive to insure and repair. Hope that rear spoiler does not partially cover the tail lights. A little weird. I bet it they will hit it out of the park again with the new incarnation.by patrick - Main Forum
The issue isn't fit or bolt on compatibility, it has to do with the throttle. I believe your car has the electronic egas throttle and the 3.4 has a cable. You should verify what throttle that 3.4 motor has. I'm sure with money and skill the 3.4 could be fitted converted to egas. Will the DME parameters set for your 3.2 motor work with the 3.4 motor? I don't know. Since your mechanic has not doneby patrick - Main Forum
It happens no matter what you drive or where you park. I don't think I've ever owned a car that has not had something happen to it my fault or someone else. I had my wife park her brand new BMW in an isolated part of the parking lot where she worked and an old lady took out the door pulling in next to her because she "got nervous". Unlike your case the woman left a note but the pristine new factoby patrick - Main Forum
I think they said it was not even in the belt. They also said a plug, if someone did it, would probably not hold and be dangerous as the edge wore down. Dealers for the most part take the conservative approach and tell you to replace the tire. They don't want the liability. I've had nail punctured tires repaired at other places. If the screw is where mine was no reputable tire shop will try to reby patrick - Main Forum
Went to the garage the other day and my right rear tire was flat as a pancake. Took the car to the tire center where and they found a screw on the edge and said they could not fix it and it fact would not let me drive on it and put on the spare. The rears have 7,000 miles on them and about 5/32s or half the tread left. The tires are Pilot Sports 245/40/17s N2s and I was told they are no longer prby patrick - Main Forum
$50 bucks and my cars always pass, that is a 5 in my book. Spend $150 elsewhere and get a 4 rating.by patrick - Main Forum
SMOG CENTER at 2241 Monument Blvd. in CONCORD Unit V W (same side and near McDonald's) is a Pass or Don't Pay and also does Test Only 925-674-8444 Mon-Sat 8-6. Check the local Penny Saver for their coupon for $26.99 plus about another $13.00 for certificates. They have done a lot of my cars. A Test Only is $10.00 more or $50.00 and they only take cash. If you don't have the coupon tell them someby patrick - Main Forum
I found a local guy who is a Test Only station do mine for $50. He does not mess with the engine compartment at all. Just a sensor in the tailpipe. The car still has to run the treadmill though. I had to Smog two of my cars Test Only this past week. What an expensive PIA especially since one failed due to a bad O2 sensor so I had to pay another $50 to have it Smogged again. My assumptions include that she wants a sedan, otherwise this is not valid. A well cared for used Mercedes C class is a good, practical and safe car for the wife. Maybe a little older, lower mileage E class even better since it is larger and rides more luxuriously. Mercedes look contemporary for many years, are built strong, have many safety features, ride nice and come with all the latest technoby patrick - Main Forum
The Daytona used in the early series was a clone with Vette underpinnings. Ferrari objected to the use of a fake Daytona and gave them two Testarossas but they were in black. The black cars did not show up well in the night scenes so Michael Mann repainted them white.by patrick - Main Forum
Carefully check the gap and alignment of the body panels. They should look even and match. If your hood was replaced check the orientation across the front bumper and that the gaps on each side of the hood are the same versus the fenders. Check the paint for flaws and imperfections such as eyes, grit and runs. Check the color match to the adjacent panels. Check the clear coat. If they replaced aby patrick - Main Forum
Actually I have the older version of this one. It appears that they made some improvements in the newer offering. I have had it for many years and really like it. I particularly like the easy to read dial, long hose, quality fittings and rubber around the gauge for protection.by patrick - Main Forum
I don't think the location of the impact or an off center impact has anything to do with setting off the air bags. My accident was narrowly concentrated to the left front headlight and fender. Off center collisions such as those encountered in a head on collision are some of the most common and dangerous types of accidents and I think that would have set off the air bags. I don't know what the pby patrick - Main Forum
I think they are supposed to be inspected every 5 years or so. Sounds like your air bag should have gone off. You are right it would have been more expensive if it deployed. I had a frontal crash in which both air bags deployed including the passenger side even though there was no passenger I had to replace both air bags and the force of deployment from the passenger air bag broke the dash whichby patrick - Main Forum
I'm just speaking for myself about miss shifts. I would miss shift that 5 gate transmission probably a lot especially while getting use to it. As far as valets, supposedly they would not need more than 1st and 2nd to park a car. Yes some joy ride but realistically I would be more concerned about a valet screwing up my transmission grinding the gears while trying to get it in the correct gear or lby patrick - Main Forum
you should definitely qualify for a loaner. My dealer still gives me a free overnight loaner for my 97 and it does not generate dealer revenue anywhere near the amount yours has.by patrick - Main Forum
Other German manufacturers and some Japanese have been upping the gears in their transmissions from 5 to six is now standard in German automatics and up to 7 (Mercedes) and 8 gears (Lexus) to help meet higher fleet fuel requirements in the US and elsewhere. When I had a 5 speed 914 I would occasionally miss a downshift in that crazy shift pattern. I would miss shift 5th into 2nd instead of 4th.by patrick - Main Forum
How long do you plan to keep the car? More frequent changes are an investment in longevity. If you plan to sell in a year or two skip it and save your money. If you plan to keep the car another four or more years I would change it. The fluid is ten years old. My experience with lubricants is that they age and deteriorate over time. I've asked Porsche mechanics what they would do if it was their cby patrick - Main Forum
