QuoteMikenOH IIRC, someone else on this board that ordered a 981B a few years back added those wheels to their car. Combined with PASM, I would think you'll have a more comfortable ride. FWIW, I liked the GY F1 Asymetrics we had on our 987. In designing the 18" wheels for the 981 Cayman, Porsche didn't stray far from the previous generation's 17" design.by Roger987 - Main Forum
Nope, Mike, you didn't miss it. I'd not posted these pics before. These are 18" wheels off a 981 Cayman. Three had 250 miles on them, and the fourth tire was brand new The 20" wheels are great.. except on my local roads, where the potholes have grown potholes. The 18's offer a fair bit more sidewall height, and with that, an improved ride. Mike, I was guided by your post on another board, whereby Roger987 - Main Forum
Well, not snow tires, but my 981 TPMS display insisted that, to synchronize the sensors in my new 18' wheels, I had to select the '18 inch winter tire' setting. 20" and 18" 18"by Roger987 - Main Forum
Yup, that's the part that baffles me. The box looks far too small to contain a crankshaft. Speaking of oil changes, I don't know if it's a product of the 9x1 engine design, or it being a 3.4 rather than a 2.7, but the oil filter is really tucked away, quite a reach from the bottom of the engine, and is barely accessible by hand. But, it IS accessible, just not nearly as easily as on my 987 2.7,by Roger987 - Main Forum
Although, as a general rule, Porsche may be right with 45 degrees F (7 degrees Celsius), if your tires are losing traction at your current temps, switching over to winters would be a good idea.by Roger987 - Main Forum
Thanks for posting. The turbo-6 looks like a winner. Similar high praise in the current Excellence. Pity the 981 will be getting a turbo-4, rather than the 6.by Roger987 - Main Forum
Thanks, Laz The right side of the car was in the shade, and the sky/clouds were blown out (over-exposed in film-speak - I don't know what it's called in the world of digital film), so I brightened the shadow area, dialed down the highlights (which created a sort of polarized filter effect), sharpened the image and did what I could to get rid of the telephone pole growing out of the frunk. CR rates the following as 3 as being most accurate and easy to use: Accutire MS-4400B Accutire MS-4021B Intercomp 360060 (pricey) This is almost as accurate Accutire MS-4004B I see about a 3 psi difference between cold and warm tires. I'd imagine it can vary though, depending on ambient heat, road surface, and driving conditions.by Roger987 - Main Forum
"Three-pedal purists have made an impact on the high-end sports-car market. Used Ferraris and Lamborghinis with manuals now sell for $15,000 to $20,000 more than those with paddle-shift gear boxes, which have no clutch pedal and small paddle-shaped shifters, said Ted Taormina, who repairs exotic sports cars in San Carlos, Calif."by Roger987 - Main Forum

I realize, Gary, that with that remark, you're casting bait to see how many will take it. ok, I'm hooked. How many of the activities many (most) people enjoy might be described as 'pointless', using your definition? Listening to music, hiking a trail (when there's a perfectly good road which would take you to the other side of the mountain in 1/1000 of the time), sailing (not to get somewhere,by Roger987 - Main Forum
Quotedak911 "To add insult to injury" they are in FRENCH as the car is a Canadian one....(not that there is anything wrong with that, as the saying goes) Close, but no cigar. The stickers are in French because the dealer ordered a car with stickers (and owner's manual etc.) written in French, rather than English. Like Guenter's, and Laz's, mine was essentially an aesthetic thing - at most, a hint of chafing - pretty much what one would expect from the regular folding/unfolding. There wasn't any indication of broken threads, or a tear or anything of that sort. I annually applied the Porsche brand protectant:by Roger987 - Main Forum
PDK? Of course, the Clubsport is track-only. Interesting article on the demise of the manual. Glad I got while the getting was good.by Roger987 - Main Forum
Yes, Sept/Oct have been exceptional. Hibernation is just around the corner. Maybe a few more drives left, but soon time to change the oil, pump up the tires, fill the tank, and put it to bed for winter hibernation...by Roger987 - Main Forum

Thanks, Bill. The colour varies considerably, depending on the light, and viewing angle. Fortunately, I like all the shades.by Roger987 - Main Forum
In the photo in the link you posted, the left and right brake lights are lit, as well as the (higher) centre brake light, and the in-spoiler centre light which, in my 2014 981, operates primarily as a back-up light. But as Laz and Guenter note, that in-spoiler back-up light can also be used as a rear fog light.by Roger987 - Main Forum
Sometimes mistaken for back-up lights are the turn signals which split the left and right tail lights. Although they appear to have a clear lens, they are red when lit.by Roger987 - Main Forum
