I apologise in advance if this was already posted and I missed it. The August issue of Automobile just arrived with a nice review of the 2012 Boxster S versus the Mercedes SLK55 AMG versus BMW Z4 sDrive35is. No surprise but they ended the article by saying "So the Boxster wins. After one exciting week and more than 600 fast miles, it not only beat its two sparring partners, it also comes unashby jwdbox - Main Forum
I saw them a few years ago. It seems like it was popular for a while and then disappeared. It kinda makes sense though I have had my Porsche cap on in SilverBox with the top down at speeds (that might) well (have been) beyond the legal limits with no issues.by jwdbox - Main Forum
Amazing to watch and even more amazing that all of the cones were not wiped out under those conditions Quite a reflection on both the 981 and the driver.by jwdbox - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario Quotejwdbox thanks for posting Guenter. Elsewhere there was mention that the trunk was smaller than on the 987s. Will have to see if a full set of golf clubs in a regular cart bag still fits It's a bit hard to tell. The trunk didn't seem quite as wide as in the 987. Maybe a bit deeper, but that might have been an optical illusion because of the different shape. G-manby jwdbox - Main Forum

QuoteMikenOH Quotejwdbox QuoteDougW Yes that's what I thought when I saw it, I asked the Porsche Rep. and he confirmed that it was smaller. It didn't seem quite as deep and seemed a bit shorter from front to back. I have fit two golf carry bags in mine and don't think that would work in the new Boxster. Still much more room than some of the hard top cabs. out there. Interesting. I carry a fullby jwdbox - Main Forum
thanks for the additional details Maurice. For sure will have to check out its capacity to carry a full set of golf clubs in a regular sized cart bag as the 987 can do.by jwdbox - Main Forum

Thanks for the feedback Doug. You mentioned the trunk was smaller- that's surprising. Was that because of the new top arrangement intruding into what was the back of the trunk?by jwdbox - Main Forum
SilverBox, an 08 responds the same as Guenter's CURVEN8R. I always check the oil before the first run of the day and the reading is typically very near the same as a warmed up reading unless she is not on a level at the time of the warmed up reading. Our manual actually suggests it is fine to measure it cold. It states " It is best to measure the engine oil level before embarking on a journeyby jwdbox - Main Forum
Your welcome Mark. I don't recall seeing that long of a count down on SilverBox (and 08) but it is much longer (10 or 15 minutes) when you see it after stopping to fuel up for example. I always check it first thing in the morning before taking SilverBox out.by jwdbox - Main Forum
The count down is reflective of how long before it will give you an accurate reading. Normally you should check it before you start, with a cold engine and with the car on the level. At that point it takes only a few seconds for the count down to run and show your oil level. You may have tried to check it with a hot engine.by jwdbox - Main Forum
Looks like purrrrrfect Permagrin weather and run Guenter Nice cross-section of Porsches as well. Thanks for sharing.by jwdbox - Main Forum
QuoteLawdevil I'm sure that won't please someone who is paying over half a million for one! Oh I'm not so sure about that. After all if it were not for the original Boxster pulling Porsche out of the financial precipice there would be no 918. I am sure they appreciate the heritageby jwdbox - Main Forum
Ouch Heal quickly and thoroughly Pedro! We are all cheering for your smooth recovery.by jwdbox - Main Forum
Be careful what you wish for. If the Boxster were to get a folding hard top it would almost certainly mean giving up all of the rear trunk storage space. I for one would definitely not want that. It would be much better to have a version available with a manual folding soft top like what was offered on one of the 911 variants last year. Ideally it would be in a Spyder-ish body . QuoteKevinR-MedinaOhio TPMS is good for people who don't care about their cars and just drive them hither and yon. How many time have we all seen a car in front of us w/ one or more tires going flat, and the driver is oblivious even though the car is swaying and swerving from side-to-side. I agree w/ you that people who drive high-end cars (except women) aren't in that category. I very carefullyby jwdbox - Main Forum

He did produce some amazing cars. My favorite recollection of him was when I came upon him at one of the big car shows and he was off loading a new all aluminum bodied Cobra. He asked if I wanted to stick around while he fired it up. You betcha! Shelby neglected to suggest I move back from the side pipe as he started it. My last recollection before going partially deaf was how phenomenal itby jwdbox - Main Forum
My 2005 STS TPM units are still functioning just fine coming up on 8 years (and in the Caddy, like Porsche, it gives you data on each specific tire). SilverBox, a 2008, coming up on 5 1/2 years TPM is also still functioning just fine. I check via the TPM system, tire pressures virtually every time I drive my cars. I don't believe how many times you check has any impact on battery life. My undby jwdbox - Main Forum

Need to check that out. Living close to a state (that shall remain unnamed, but whose initials can be mistaken for a country where Gman ives) where the norm is staying in the left lane, there is more than ample opportunites to use the it for that purpose. But on which three...by jwdbox - Main Forum

OK I went to the original article that appeared in the Rhein-Zeitung and indeed the author claims it was a spontaneous idea in what once was a 'living room' but that he had been using as as an exhibition space that has a large glass front, which can be opened. Color me just a bit doubtful Regardless, it still was some pretty amazing driving but IMHO pretty dumb.by jwdbox - Main Forum
Quotefrogster but of course, that doesn't guarantee that it is indeed a living room. Well it certainly makes for a better story if it was a living room, but I still think those are two (Badezimmer) bathroom doors with signs.by jwdbox - Main Forum
Don't think it was a house. It appears to have two bathrooms on the back left wall. My guess is it was part of a high end used car dealership's showroom.by jwdbox - Main Forum
Impressive. Particularly interesting in that the driver did not touch those $7k+ Ceramic Composite Brakes once that I saw during the entire circuit. And I do think the brake lights were connected because you could see the signal light when first pulling out.by jwdbox - Main Forum
