Thanx to someone here, I was able to score a used but in like-new condition, leather bag from Ebay for the Blue Box. Apparently, these are as scarce as hens' teeth, and Porsche wants an arm and a leg for them, if you can find one. I did a search a few weeks back and found none available anywhere. Having said that, I live not far from an Amish community, whose artisans are pretty good about rby KevinR-MedinaOhio - Parts for Sale
I really like the blue top and think it looks much better than brown. The windshield and roof reminds me of newer Aston Martins.by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
although and although I wash the car once a week, my daily driving causes it to collect an assortment of insect intestines and other nasties. The only thing I currently have on my care care cart is Invisible Glass. I tried it a few minutes ago and it seems to work well when used on the windshield, lights, clear bra, and paint. Am wondering if my fellow Boxsterers have a favorite spray they useby KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
Is that her name?by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
Yes, I would be REAL leery of the sale. Unless he shows up at your door w/ a fist-full of US currency, this sounds like a "Pass" to me.by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
For those who couldn't attend, this is Bev's and my account of our first BRBS. We bought our Boxster S in March and were looking for a Boxster event to baptize the car; I doubt that we could have picked a better one. It had been my hope to get the full experience by arriving Wednesday, but work for both of us prevented that from happening, so Thursday became our launch day. QuoteBackseat? winking smiley Isn't that why many of us have another car cool smiley That's why I bought a Boxster. "Sorry, kids. No room for you in the car".by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
and decided to take our Porsche Puppy, Casey. We had the top down and the thermometer climbed from 90-95F before we got to our destination. Casey started complaining, so we were forced to put the top up and crank-up the AC. Even that wasn't enough, so we had to stop at a Petco and get him and his 4-brothers and sisters some doggie treats in compensation. Anyway, on the way home, we got behiby KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
If the windstop is sub-standard, that means there's also an after-market opportunity for a plexiglass replacement. Ohhhh, Pedro!by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
Anyone who agrees with these Big Brother programs is a fool. And Big Brother programs like this are a huge inducement for me not to ever get Onstar or Sync.by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
QuoteLeor ('09S, North of Boston) That said, however, there are those times every now and then (perhaps only once per every two or three outings) when the need to put my foot down hard arises, and those instances most certainly result in shift points at the upper end of the scale. So under "normal" conditions the revs stay low...but I'd wager that even KevinR puts his foot down once in a while anby KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
Quotefrogster never? seriously? sorry if this sounds offensive but why did you buy a porsche? these motors don't even come alive until 4k rpm and it's much harder on an engine to lug it than to rev it. i'm not saying that you have to wind it out to redline on every shift but "never" is a bit extreme. IMNSHO you haven't lived until you drive a boxster through the twisties between 5 to 7k rpm. Neby KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
I am trying to avoid finding out whether that feature works or not. I normally shift at 3k and never above 4.5k. I would be interested in knowing what your local Porsche Service Manager says about the problem.by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
This is an annual PCA event previously held in Oxford, Ohio when it was called Porsches to Oxford. This year it has been moved to a Columbus suburb (thusly the name change), so it is much more accessible to those from outside the area. Columbus is at the crossroads of I70 and I71, and is not far from I75 and I77. The event is for all Porsche enthusiasts and is a charity event to raise money to fiby KevinR-MedinaOhio - Events
about both the car's color and the car in general. Today, a couple guys in a passing van gave me a, "Nice car!" I responded w/ a "thumbs up". Last week, the man who owns the repair shop where I get my non-Porsche car repairs done got to see the car for the first time. We have been talking about my future purchase for awhile, and when I took one of my other cars in to drop it off for repairs, Iby KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum

Stoddard Auto Parts holds this show each year at their business in Highland Heights, Ohio. We attended it today for the first time. The link below has iPhone pics I took of the cars. Let me know if the link doesn't work. Stoddard Porsche Pics Coincidentally, this month's Excellence magazine (August 2012) is an interview w/ the owner of Stoddard's Auto Parts, Bruce Schwarz. QuoteThat poor Lindsay. I am afraid she's going to end up like Whitney H. or Amy W. She is self-destructive and anyone who is in the passenger seat w/ her is a FOOL. I wonder what it's like to have more money than sense.by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
I should have posted this earlier. Stoddard Porsche Show Link Bev and I will be there from 9a-noon. See you there!by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Events
QuoteI drove the car strictly in manual mode with sport. This car didn't have the paddles. After a little time with it I really started to like the system. All of our cars have been stick. Shifts are very fast. Throttle blips on downshifts are nice...I would probably take the PDK too and it pains me a little to say that. Oh, Guenter!by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
QuoteLaz It was almost stultifying sitting for endless hours without much steering input, any braking, and both feet unnaturally on the floorboard. I had to do something. That's what they make iPods for. I listen to lots of tech, gaming, and Sci-fi podcasts on trips. Audio books would also work.by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
My "S" averaged 26mph (top up) on the way to the event and 27mph (top down) on the way back. That was driving 71-80mph in 7th gear using Cruise Control. I have an iPhone app that tracks my gas usage and that's where I got my numbers. Aren't my numbers a bit low?by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
It was really nice to have the PDK during runs on 226A. Up- and down-shifting was soooooooo easy, especially during those pesky switchbacks. <-- after experiencing my first switchback. <-- me after that (I cheated and used the PCM/GPS to look ahead)by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
I was coming back from the BRBS yesterday (Sunday) at 1045AM and pass a large, southbound convoy of Boxsters and 911s. I flashed my lites and waved, getting the same in return from several Boxsters. Where were you all coming from from/going to?by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
Yes, it was terrific. It was our first, but not our last, as we have already booked our room for next year. I will write more later, but am bushed after being on the road almost 11-hours.by KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum

The car is ready to go. I just need to finish packing and charge up the plethora of devices needed to sustain us. I will be navigating using both a Garmin and the Porsche GPS. A comparative review to follow post-Summit. The little woman is a Luddite, so I introduce her to technology as needed. Last night I ran across an older, red 'S" setting at a stop sign. I pulled up to the driver and started chatting w/ her. Her and her husband bought the '01 w/ 19k miles on it last year from someone in Meechigan and had not done anything to in, including service. They didn't even know where to go to get the car serviced. I told her about the three area dealerships and also told her about the closeby KevinR-MedinaOhio - Main Forum
