And don't mind the black pebbles. We just came from practice and those are turf remnants. The black jack was originally at the junction of the two panels. It has migrated some. I am considering pulling in to be next to the seat, but I do not it to conflict with seat movement or mark the seat.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

I ran the wire near the passenger seat. It exits in the passenger footwell. I had planned to drill a hole in the lower storage box in the center console, but I find I have the electronics on the seat all the time. Plus this is 100% reversible. If I ever want to clean it up, just slide the female jack under the center console.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
It really works well, saves a bunch of time and looks like it was relatively easy to make. So all in, a great homemade tool.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
emergency stop on the way home. I actually locked up the brakes for the first time since I can't remember. The antilock worked, but it was still a LOT of chirping.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
First time in a LOOOOONG time. Thanks Gundo for hosting. Thanks Stefan and Maurice for helping bleed the friggin' clutch. I do not remember it being that hard last time. Either way, I fun day.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I do not have to do anything other than plug the phone into the aux port or either the Boxster or the Subaru. I cannot to that on the BMW due to conflict with the BTooth.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
True. It will get done when it becomes a true nuisance. In the meantime, I am on to other projects like replacing my roof.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

In fact, I think if you do the phone will not use your speakers. All of my phones - they have been a series of Blackberries - have just worked when i plugged in the AUX cable in. They work both in the Boxster and the Subaru. I am NOT using bluetooth. I am using only a hardwire connection to the AUX port. I know that all speakers are also microphones. I assume there is something in the AUX tby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I did this update a year or so ago. There were several options on ebay. Maybe a 15 minute job. Hardest thing was running the wire. Not the kit I used, mine has a female jack at the end - but....by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
The symptoms are exactly the same. On cooler days, the thunk and electrical disconnection take some seconds (or several in winter). I am not sure if it is worth the nuisance to swap the metallic part at the moment. i have other deferred maintenance and upgrades to do. If it is not the electrical part, I am not going to be stranded - so, do I leave it for now?by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
But if you plan to do 3 or 4 a week, then awesome. It looks like a very neat idea.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I am still experiencing the delayed "power off" and the delayed audible clunk after removing the key. I suspect this means the metallic pistol looking part of the ignition needs to be replaced.??? Great. Just great.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Perhaps the best DIY i have ever seen on any topic. It really is astonishing work and must be saved for posterity. Thanks Trygve for creating this a million years ago and sending it to me recently.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Some years back, I installed an AUX cable on my radio. It allows me hands free phone and a jack to the phone for music. I would prefer better integration, but you take what you get. At the time, the kind of upgrade you are talking about was prohibitively expensive. I think i paid $60 for the aux attachment. Still not sure I want or need a greater upgrade, but it has been on my mind lately.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
So 5 yrs ago and 3 yrs ago I just cleared the code and waited. No recurrence of the CEL for years (obviously). In the interim, I passed several inspections without issue and the car has run flawlessly - at least to my observation. I am going to do the same as I have done before - clear the code and wait. I am thinking this is an intermittent electrical gremlin and the sensor is just fine. Buby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
From time to time I look at the newer Boxsters (or whatever they call them now). I have to say I am not happy with the "technology" in the cars. One may call me a "moldy fig" in PPBB parlance, but i simply do not appreciate driving a computer. My wife's Volvo is a fine car. But I cannot figure out how to change the radio station or the heater settings or ..... Well you get the point. On a rby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I have never heard of a replacement interval, but I have heard about premature wear on tensioners. I will defer to others regarding whether it is a maintenance item.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
They buy their switches from Audi too. I always felt like it was more likely the aluminium part, but multiple folks have asserted it to be the plastic electric part - including the dealer. He could have sold me the whole thing, because I was leaning that way before I walked in the door.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

This is at least the second time I have replaced the switch. I was getting the delayed shutoff after the key was removed. Yes, I overpaid for the part. Purchased at the dealer in the (likely vain) hope that they have a more robust source. On the band news front, the job is STILL a complete PITA. But having done it before, I seem to be getting better at it. This time only took maybe a half hoby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I assume all of our cars have the most recent refrigerant. If so, there is really no reason to mess around with the system unless there is an obvious problem.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

It does create a nice micro-climate as noted above. The only issue is if you run it for a while on a particularly humid day, the lines get condensate on them and will drip on your lower legs and feet. The first time it happened, it was disconcerting. Now just a minor annoyance. In the fall and early spring, I frequently ride with the heat on full blast with the top down. It makes the drive mby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
