I used LA Dismantlers a few times. I have also used DC automotive. DC tends to be more expensive. YMMVby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
And what a questionable design in the first place. There must have been a reason for the holes in the flap. Please tell me it was not to save weight.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
With the coming of heating season, i have been using my heater quite a bit. On the one hand, I am happily remembering how good the heater is especially as compared to my BMW. On the other, I am now getting bathed in black foam bits. That was common before. New this year, however, is CHUNKS of black foam. They sometimes come through the vents, but more commonly, they are strained from the aby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I feel they are really good all around. I have recommended them to others. Glad you are enjoying the ride.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I will defer to Maurice's expertise - other than to note that I suspect a corded drill would work too. Either way, be careful because those plastic cups break easily. Ask me how I know..... BTW - do not get the metal ones, that defeats the whole point of the sacrificial cup.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
As you discovered the plastic rod end is sacrificial to avoid metal carnage in just this circumstance. I just did my top, but I just replaced the entire mechanism - everything lined up just fine. I would think that the rod with the ball end would not have enough adjustment to account for too much of a side to side differential. There are just not that many threads on the rod. It is not "hard" but you really need a VERY small screwdriver. I actually took a screw bit and built it up with tape to get sufficient traction.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Dealerships - as a concept are not necessarily something the company wants to have. I have heard rumors that traditional car companies tried to insist that Tesla open dealerships - in order to increase the capital load on Tesla. No idea the nature and extent of that dispute.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I doubt a long time professional could do much better. One heck of a hard job. Not for the faint of heart.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
If it was longer than that, I would have made another choice. But I know that even the entire drive from home to work, the coolant does not get up to temperature in the winter. So the likelihood of overheating was almost 0.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
regarding that little wrinkle, I am sure there must be some trick, but that will come from others. Either way, it sounds like quite the battle.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I stopped the car and restarted. The light was off. Upon my return home, the light was still off. but I checked the level - and it was borderline low. So I topped off. I will check the cap this weekend. I hope that is it. But I changed it with the coolant tank just a few years ago. So it is not original. New, of course, is not a guarantee of continuous non-defective performance.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Maybe the cap, maybe a pinhole someplace. I have a 2 hour trip each way tomorrow. We will see if there is a result. I might have to get out the ramps and start looking around. It might give me an excuse to deal with the known oil leak. The joy of 20 year old cars.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Yesterday, the coolant light was blinking while the engine was newly started from cold. Upon return from my trip, I checked the coolant level. It was right on the bottom of the expansion tank. I added some coolant - perhaps 2 cups - and so far things look fine. I changed the expansion tank a couple years back. I do not smell coolant after long trips or in the trunk. But I understand the systeby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
The issue was with raising or lowering the roof. you had to pick either open -or closed before mounting the roof rack. I want to say that skyler had one? but that is an oldish memory. Here is a link to one owner....by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
The Board is an important resource for all of us.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I recalled the invoice incorrectly. The price was $1300 and included included the cost of a three spoke steering wheel with airbag and gold crest. The roof itself cost less than $1000. The shipping was expensive - $300. But the roof is an awkward size and shape. It needed to go on a truck and be delivered to a commercial garage. I see some of the car-part.com roofs. They appear to be lessby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I paid roughly $1300. There were several available. Ranged between $900-2500by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
You need to commuincate with Maurice aka schoir He is the resident expert on all things top. I just did my top. However, I elected to upgrade to the glass rear window by installing an '03, '04 model year top. That was largely a plug and play operation and highly recommended (assuming you are not too far down the road.) As stated, I did not like the summer tires the car came with. They were Pirelli, P-zero if I recall correctly. I found them awful in the rain or in any weather in which the temperature is under 65 deg. In CT, that covers roughly 9 mos a year. In marked contrast, the Michellin Pilot all seasons were better than fine, and the Conti DWS all seasons have been great so far. Your statement was preby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I have the Conti DWS' on my car. I am very pleased with them. I previously used Michelin Pilots. I like the Michelins fine. But I prefer the Contis. It appears they come in the size you want. BTW - I reject the notion that all season tires are not acceptable for Porsche. I found the summer tires that came as OE to be terrible. The all seasons I have had since have all been better than goodby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
The standard, as I understand it, is: could a statement mislead a "reasonable" consumer? There might be more to it, like the statement must contain something that is untrue or something like that. All of the above is base upon my 30+ year old recollection of a "consumer law" class that I took in law school. It is very likely the law has changed or advanced since then or that my recollection isby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I am pretty sure that Turbotax does not install an air induction/pressurization system to your PC or theirs. So it is arguably fair to say that turbo and turbocharging have entered the common language as something other than the mechanical definition. That said, an automobile is mechanical. One could legitimately suggest that a statement that a motor vehicle is a "turbo" or is "turbocharged" reby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
There are two models to start with – the Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S, both merrily and confusingly named after a forced induction system they don't have. Porsche has decided that Turbo simply means "fast" in the new electric world, gambling that in 20 years' time everyone will have forgotten the hoops people had to jump through to extract more power out of combustion engines in the first ceby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
There is only one code. It has appeared four times in five years. Twice it went away with me doing nothing. Twice I cleared the code. I did not swap the sensor because of the long intermittent nature. The time delay between CEL's makes the swap test less than effective. Further, i was of the opinion that swapping 16 (ish) year old parts might just as easily insert problems into the analysis.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
My post was speculation based upon a post in another forum. That poster bought o2 sensors. It did not correct the problem. After longish diagnostics, the issue was traced to the connection at the ECU. Superimposed on that was the use of the trunk when the light illuminated. I was driving from Hartford to Stamford on the Merritt parkway near BPT. The rear trunk contained two briefcases fromby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
