He needs to learn how to pronounce Porsche.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
I sold my Boxster two years ago and bought a 1995 Carrera 4. Went back to my air-cooled roots. Beautiful car, but the only ugly part was the huge 4-spoke steering wheel. Problem solved. Got a 3-spoke wheel from a 986. It' s black against a blue interior, but there's enough black on the dash to make it look original. The wheel is only slightly smaller but looks a lot smaller, and feels betby Clarkaddison - Main Forum
In my young, single days I'd often find myself on the freeway at 2 am in my 1971 911T Targa. It demanded my full attention and kept me awake and safe on the long road home.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
Not likely they would track it with a Tiptronic gearbox. Ed could work on my car any time.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
One of my online photos was ripped off by a German company for an item of clothing. My lawyer is pursuing a 5,000 euro settlement.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
When I traded my 06 Boxster in on a 1995 993, I jumped over to the 993 forum on Rennlist. Great group of knowledgable people sharing ideas. I still check Pedro's Board once in while, though.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
...because I traded in my 06 Boxster for a 1995 Carrera 4. No IMS either.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
My first Porsche was a 1970 914. I bought it new for $3700, and totalled it two years later. The other guy's insurance paid me more than I could have sold it for, and at my indy mechanic's recommendation I bought a used 1969 911T. That started the slippery slope. I'm now on my 6th Porsche, a 1995 Carrera 4 (after another 911 and two Boxsters). It's the last generation of aircooled Porsches,by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
Another fascinating aspect of driving in Egypt is car repairs. The tiny repair shops are concentrated over several city blocks. One may specialize in carburetors, another in mufflers, another in body work. My friend brought his ancient Fiat to a muffler shop and waited while the mechanic fashioned a new set of exhaust pipes and added a generic muffler. I found drivers in Jordan were far less aggressive, and actually felt safe driving there. One evening in Cairo, the friend who drove me got drunk, so I insisted on driving. I was terrified the whole time. As drunk as he was, he probably could have done better than I. In Egypt, the most important component of a car is the horn. Without it, you wouldn't be able to drive a city block.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
I toured the Zuffenhausen Porsche factory in October 2010. Lots of the assembly work is done by robots; welding is almost entirely robotic. I'd say 33 to 40% of the body work is done by robots. Engines are assembled largely by hand.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
It all depends whether you want the latest and greatest or are in a classic state of mind. For me, the real Porsches are air cooled (let the flames commence). If you are willing to roll the dice on a high mileage example, prices in the $30-35k range for a 993 are possible. My 1995 had 98k miles on it, an average under 6k per year. There are 50k examples out there for $20k more that were garageby Clarkaddison - Main Forum
I drove an Opel on the autobahns a year ago. On a lot of the route, the right lane is a train of slow trucks from all over Europe. Where there are two lanes, the left one has such a mix of cars that speeds are no better than in the US. It's only when the lanes open up to three or more that a driver can really floor it. Lane discipline is respected in Germany. Nobody passes on the right, anby Clarkaddison - Main Forum
My history with Porsches goes back to the 1970s. I had a 1971 911T Targa that I kept 25 years and 245,000 miles. In 1999 I sold it and bought a Boxster, and followed that with a 2006 Boxster. Loved them both, but lately felt the urge to go back to my roots. So six weeks ago I bought a 1995 Carrera 4 coupe with 98,000 miles on it. It passed the PPI, and I had all the fluids and plugs changed.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
It didn't have the engine decal. I believe that was the 2.4 engine which came later. It did have the world championship decal on the windshield, though.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
Way to go, Marc. I put 245,000 miles on my 1971 911T Targa, but that took 25 years.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
After 13 years with Boxsters (a 99 and an 06) I'm leaving the clan. But don't shed any tears for me. I traded in the 06 (26k miles) on a 1995 Carrera 4 (98k miles). I drove a 1971 911T Targa for 25 years, (245k miles) and have been nostalgic for it ever since. So I figured it was time to reach back into the past. As you know the 95-98 Carreras were the last of the air cooled Porsches. Fby Clarkaddison - Main Forum

First, I'm glad Porsche's website moved on from using Flash. Now I can see it all on my iPad. Second, I don't like the styling of the new Boxster. It looks like a poor man's Carrera GT. The door cutouts and the winglets on the tail lights are form, not function. The interior looks like a poor man's Panamera. I prefer the clean look of my 2006 Boxster.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
They've improved the roof silhouette by extending the curve back further. Also, it seems there is less front overhang on both the Boxster and the Cayman. Scraping bottom on driveways is my number one gripe with my 06 Boxster. I realize they need it to make room for the radiators in the fenders, but it's too long.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
I passed up a chance to buy a 3000 in 1966, and bought a TR4A instead because it was $400 cheaper. That was a lot of money in those days.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum

As a long time Cubs fan, I don't like the Cardinals, but have to admit it was one of the most exciting world series ever. Our day is coming. Hopefully in my lifetime.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
It's not the tension cable. It's the exterior canvas. It's supposed to fit into the plastic window frame. Instead, the one on the right side overlaps the window frame at the back end. If that's confusing, I'll post a picture.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
When I put up the top on my 06 Boxster, the plastic bead on the right side doesn't go into it's groove in the plastic window edge. I have to partially raise it and push it in place. What sort of fix or adjustment is needed?by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
I mostly lurk, but still am grinning in my 06 Boxster.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
You can do it much easier with an old iPod. Alpine makes an adapter that shows song info on the radio display.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
Looks like my 06 Boxster is going to be a 15 year car.by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
Would you trust your Porsche to Jiffy Lube?by Clarkaddison - Main Forum
I had my Boxster center console painted body color by a local high end shop. Their quoted price was lower than the nationally advertised Porsche shop, and local shops that do exotics. The paint job was great, but there were a couple of glitches in reassembly involving lights and switches. After the second time, the owner loaned me his personal SUV for a day while they did it again, right thisby Clarkaddison - Main Forum
