Sorry for the late reply just saw your reply. Top looks as good as an original. Only problem is it has to be stretched out after installing which occurs over a month but in my case they had to loosen up some rear cables. Very pleased with the top and cost saving as a dismantler was asking for $2600 for top without installation.by Ruby - Main Forum
I have an "03 but did not have this problem with my top. However, a year ago the fabric that attaches to the bottom of the rear window separated from the glass. My options were fixing the top at a cost of $1000 since the whole top had to be removed fixed and re attached (it was pretty worn after 12 years) or I was offered an aftermarket top installed for $1600 which I had done. When the top waby Ruby - Main Forum
I've also had the Vi for will over 15 years and have avoided a ticket in this time. The only major change which bothers is their revised upgrade policy. In the past you would send in your old unit and they would bring it up to date for $129 if you are the original owner. They have recently changed this to $289 which is less than a new unit at $399 but pricey.by Ruby - Main Forum
Just received the August issue of Automobile and on the cover is the "Sneak Preview" of the 718. States it will come with a standard 2.0 liter 285 hp and 285 lb ft of torque plus an optional 2.5 that's reported at 360 hp and 345 lb ft. To be released in 2016 starting at 40K with the 2.0 and 6 speed with a curb weight of 2625 pounds. Pictures make it appear to be a mini boxsterby Ruby - Main Forum
I always change the oil and filter before storage, pop the front hood just in case I have to get to the battery and hook up a battery tender. Even in the garage I put a cover on for the winter and I'm good to go. Just started my '03 after five months of storage with zero problems.. Just turn the key and let the oil show full bars and start her up. While idling I check the tire pressure and offby Ruby - Main Forum
The only oil my mechanic uses is Motul which I've read is the next grade above Castrol and Mobil 1. My mechanic races, certified porche, mercedes and audi tech and swears by this stuff. Pricey but I sleep better changing it out every 5000 miles.by Ruby - Main Forum
I have had one bad experience with Stateway. Screwed me around pretty good over the date of pickup and eventually paid for another transport to pick me up and gave me/the driver their end. Only nice thing I can say is nice ads. I'm in South Florida for the winter and tend to drive my wife's Benz down and ship it back and have used a number of transports. You can check them on the Transport sby Ruby - Main Forum
I originally started with a Passport abut 15 years ago first wired then cordless. When that died bit the bullet and bought the Valentine V1. Since that time, I have upgraded using their upgrade service to newer technology, given my original V1 to my son who then also upgraded later on and bought myself a new one. I have three cars hard wired including a leased one and find it to be an easy jobby Ruby - Main Forum
I had this problem in my old since departed Nissan Maxima. Went through same thing blaming gas station pumps. It turned out to be a sensor in the gas tank or filer (don't remember) and cost about $125 to fix. Suggest you go in with small amout of gas in the tank when you bring into your mechanic.by Ruby - Main Forum
I've been watching Wheeler Dealers since it started and one of my favorite show. Ed China is just an amazing and personable mechanic. Mike I believe now has an advantage when he goes out to buy cars with the camera running the sellers just want to be on TV. To sell a '03 Boxster S for $1600 (US $$) with a running motor and top with no body damage is insane. He could have parted it out for twiby Ruby - Main Forum
Mark I replaced those struts last year and took all of 5 minutes if that long.by Ruby - Main Forum
I have 996 eight way power seats from a 1998 in my '03 986. Work great. Had manual seats but box was pre-wired. Look great and much more comfortable than standard seats.by Ruby - Main Forum
Unfortunately I have been "caught" or should I say ticketed twice. First was in the City of Boynton Beach where they have set up cameras up and down Congress Ave a main thoroughfare. When I received the ticket I was back in NY. They give you a link to view a video in addition to a picture and I was clearly not even close going through a yellow light. Checked it out recently and it's impossibleby Ruby - Main Forum
Stoner Invisible glass is good not does not contain ammonia that streaks but is just for glass. For bugs I use Diamondite Bug Eraser (keep in my trunk with Invisible glass) and for in between Meguiers Ultimate Quik Detailer. As long as the car is not to dirty works fine and will not scratch but use only with microfiber cloths.by Ruby - Main Forum
Read the same article and had my car going into the shop for HID lights, rear tires and some odds and ends. Discussed with my mechanic (not dealer) and he agreed with 67M miles it was a good preventative move as it was when I changed my AOS before driving down to Florida. The pump for my '03 was $280 (goes for $250 to 325) plus new coolant and thermostat and you are looking at about 3 to 4 houby Ruby - Main Forum
Still have my original 17's and very happy with the handling and performance. I believe Porsche puts on the best handling performance combo when they test their new models and the options of larger wheels does not always guaranty better performance. A few cars ago I had a Saab Aero convertible with low profile 18's and thankfully had tire and rim insurance. Low profile tires come with a guaraby Ruby - Main Forum
I've put 20M on my '03 since I got it and now at 68M, change the oil and filter religiously at 5M miles and now hope to be able to enjoy the next 172M miles (LOL) to match you. Quite a feat with any car. Congrats Marc.by Ruby - Main Forum
Try this. I've bought from them in the past and seem very reliable. they have an '02 and 03 in stock which might fit.by Ruby - Main Forum
He has to work on staying within the lines. LOLby Ruby - Main Forum
I saw one down in Florida this winter but he was heading the other way and wondered how the rack was attached. It looks like a pretty straight forward install. Nice alternative than having to take my suv. Bruce, might I ask what the cost of just the receiver kit was not the rack which I assume was separate. Thanksby Ruby - Main Forum

Guenter, your right on a number of points. I had to go home to NY from Florida and was watching my gas through Florida and hoped for some lower $$ in Ga. Unfortunately, with the low fuel light flashing I pulled off about 5 miles into Ga. and got hit with $4 a gallon after filling up 35 cent less in Florida. I was ticked but was not sure how far the next station was. I later offset it in NC, atby Ruby - Main Forum
Last Friday I had to make a family emergency return from sunny Florida to NY (1300) miles and took it as an opportunity to bring the Box back north rather than shipping. At least 80% of the drive (over two days) was with the top down and on cruise control. Averaged 28 mpg with an "average" speed of 74. Gas prices ranged from a high of $4 in Georgia (rip-off) to $3.50 in NC. At no time did I feeby Ruby - Main Forum
Getting back on topic, I have had a Valentine for over 10 years. I have passed older units down to my son and have upgraded to current technology with their upgrade program. The price during all these years has been $399 which was expensive when I first bought but now seems middle of the pack. I have all my cars hard wired for the detector and have window mounts for each. The arrows as mentioneby Ruby - Main Forum
Wonder if the guy is still alive to sell Marc parts. That car is not totaled it looks partly vaporized.by Ruby - Main Forum
If it hasn't been changed out yet I would check and change out the flywheel. Clutch, flywheel and IMS/RMS kit (not Raby) ran about $1200 in parts. A good shop (not a dealer) will charge you about the same for the labor.by Ruby - Main Forum
