We have Bizzarks now and have been pretty happy driving on them in New England , but thought it wouldn't hurt to get other recommendations. Went onto Tire Rack yesterday to find some 16" Winter tires for the Boxster as our set is due for replacement this season. Unfortunately, they had no 16" recommendations.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum

Fixed the two small 1mm cracks...no leaking. However, the yesterday's downpour in Boston CLEARLY revealed a 1.5" crack along the seam on the passenger side when the Boxster went out for a ride. Filled in the crack this AM, took the car out this afternoon and got caught in another downpour... but NOTHING leaked. Not sure how long it will last, but definitely a GREAT emergency fix.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Perfect timing for this tip as the rear window had just developed a 1mm crack. Will give it a try today.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Of course, making sure that it is properly tethered is important or it may end up someplace difficult to retrieve!by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Thanks! Since they never called me back, I think I'll go with my local Porsche guy. I was only looking as I thought the dealer may have more experience doing a Tip fluid change. However, it may not make much of a difference.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
They used be Clair Porsche, but have not been to them since Prime bought them out a few years back. Anyone in MA with experience with the new operation? The recent discussion on Tip failure got us thinking perhaps it is time to get a the Tiptronic fluid changed. Might even get the brake fluid flush done :-)by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum

Have to agree...it has been 10 years, have replaced the pads three times, changed the rotors, but have never replaced the fluids. We check the levels every year, but really never felt the need to change the fluids. The car is a daily drive (sun, rain, or snow in Boston), garaged outside with a cover, and has performed flawlessly since 2000. These cars are not as fussy as many are led to believby RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
We recently completed a rear window replacement project using Saran Wrap as the plastic. At first, the RainyDayGarage folks were skeptical that Saran Wrap would be a suitable substitute for the thicker plastic. However, we found that the super tough wrap was easy to work with, does not crack under cold temperature, and very inexpensive to replace when we messed up. A bit off topic, but given the always present threads on Boxster engines...thought this article on using a "shock wave generator" to power a car would be of interest: I'm sure it will bring with it its own set of problems/limitations, but the idea is interesting.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Anyone with first hand experience with these tires for the Boxster?by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
The install was pretty simple...still using it today. The only problem is it will not work with the iPhone or iPod Touch. Never bothered to figure out why as we have a dedicated 60GB video iPod for it. Anyway, there is a series of articles on the Dual head unit...on the right of the page. Here is the link to the install:by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
The CEL code will specify which sensor is bad. We followed the directions in the Bentley's Boxster manual and had no problem replacing ours. Some of the manual's directions were a little unclear...so we took a few photos of where we had questions: : Hopefully...it will make the DIY repair a bit easier.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum

Last Summer while driving a steady 75 in the Boxster, in the left lane, on I-95...saw a MA state cop in the rear view and pulled over to the middle lane to let him pass. He pulls up even to my left and parallels me for a few second so I looked over. He than opened and closed with his right hand twice...flashing 55. I nodded, slowed, and he took off. Agreed...honesty and courtesy is always best.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
The car would start fine when cold, but had problems starting after it got warmed up (like after a short drive to get gas). The problem got progressively worse over the course of a month when it finally died 10 minutes into a drive...did get it restarted after the car cooled down. Had the crank sensor replaced...no problem since.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
First one failed around 70K...6 years The second one failed 3 years later at around 100K...also had to replace the coolant tank. The tank was leaking slowly after the first replacement, but could never really isolate the leak. The leak was slow enough that we just kept topping it off when low....which was every few months. It was after the second failure that we had the shop really dig into it.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum

We are in complete agreement with the others who drive and do not wash their cars in the Winter. We have never garaged the Boxster...private driveway, but no garage. So the Boxster has been in the New England sun, rain, slush, and snow since Day 1. It has been a pleasure to be able to drive it in all kinds of weather: After 10 years of exposure to the elements, the car is still in amazing condby RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
The closest Walmart was 10 miles away in Quincy. They carry DieHard chargers, but no DieHard car batteries. In fact, they don't carry any car batteries at all. Wonder if that is true of any other Walmarts.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
We don't do much of our shopping in brick & mortar stores any more. However, the Boxster's battery died yesterday and we need another one ASAP. So we brought the dead DieHard back to Sears and picked up a new one. The amazing part was they were able to locate our old receipt in the system. As it was still within the 100 month warranty period, we got $31 bucks rebate for it! The whole thingby RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Just putting note here as an observation, not as the root cause. The Drive Light blinking problem has been intermittent. It would clear up for a few and come back. A week ago, the battery started acting up...a few cranks before starting. Yesterday, it finally kicked the bucket...it was almost seven years old :-) When we jumped the car to get it to Sears to pick up a new battery, we noticed theby RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
It may come back, but it cleared up after driving it for about five miles. Doesn't seem to have any noticeable difference...blinking or not.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Anyone tiptronic owners with this particular experience ? The car drives fine, but clearly something is not right. The selector cable was replaced about 2 years ago.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
