It's Porsche's evolution over revolution in design. Nice ride.by db997S - Main Forum
Happened in 1998 with the cylinder sleeves slipping. Delayed my delivery by six months. In 1997, they had issues with porous engine blocks. The water cooled flat six has given Porsche headaches. Not going to mention the IMS, as not certain it delayed any production dates.by db997S - Main Forum

yes, any car can strand you but having one with a known catastrophic issue is another thing. You wouldn't feel comfortable entering a Pinto in a demolition derby (mainly driven backwards to protect front ends & radiators).by db997S - Main Forum
Aren't cars with your IMS much more reliable? Porsche changed the design as the result of the earlier IMS failures.by db997S - Main Forum
Depends on how you drive your car--local only or lots of road trips. My 2002 S had the IMS go after 10,001 miles (Oct. 2003). I was on my way from DC to Chicago for a couple of Cubs playoff games (wife was flying back home from Calif from a business trip and meeting me there). I left after work. Agree. Once Porsche designed the IMS out of their engines, I immediately began looking for a new one.by db997S - Main Forum
Yup, they are developing synthetic fuels that are as clean or cleaner than electric.by db997S - Main Forum
now, that's taking the Boxster way, er, long way home.by db997S - Main Forum
Enjoy the ride. 996s are finally getting the respect that they deserve. Long overdue. Great color combo. A 911 is a different animal than a Boxster or an American muscle car. Get to know it before driving it like you stole it.by db997S - Main Forum
If you go too far north, just keep an eye out for that little pothole around Big Sur. Enjoy the ride.by db997S - Main Forum
Congrats. Nice ride. The design is four years into no IMS, too. Fourth time's a charm? Ventilated seats are the best, Jerry, the best. So are heated with heated steering wheel.by db997S - Main Forum
Blue skies, low 60s, lousy mail service and taxes needing to get to the account, formed the perfect storm. Felt good. Downside, put gas in the car. In VA, 93 is now $3.25/gal. That's a good 30 cents more than about a month ago. But, man, the trip got me itching to hit the road this spring. Just need two shots in the arm and a, hat, shades and a full tank of gas, regardless of the price perby db997S - Main Forum
The price should be cheaper than EV charges. The Porsche Synthetic Fuel has fewer "ingredients" to make it burn cleaner and not more so than charging; although, don't know the electrical rate that they are using as a comparison. Congrats and welcome back into the fold. The 911 is a much different animal than a Boxster. I had two Boxsters prior to jumping to a 2009 Carrera S Cab (Aqua Blue/Grey). After 11 years, still find it weird to have that open space behind the head/seat. Do miss that cozy Boxster feel. The 911, however, I find to be a much more solidly built vehicle than my 2002 S I traded it in for. That beinby db997S - Main Forum
The next Porsche supercar?by db997S - Main Forum
At my rate (6,600/year), take me a total of 55 years to get my 2009 that high. Car may get there, but I won't (imagine the look on the cop's face pulling over a centenarian for doing 90 in a 75)! Glad you drove the heck out of it before the accident.by db997S - Main Forum

Do you have a cab or hardtop? Would think it and the handbrake would get very hot in the summer afternoons with the top down.by db997S - Main Forum
I had an '02 just like it. Used to attract bees whenever I washed it or waxed it. Attracted other attention, too. Wife and I drove it up to VT for a long, summer weekend once. Cruising on some nice back roads, top down and music playing, just enjoying the day. We were in a valley where the speed limit was 55, which I was actually doing. I notice a cop car coming from the other direction, nby db997S - 10 years of PB
Happy Anniversary. I found this Board before it was Pedros, back in early spring of 1998 when looking to buy a Boxster, which was my first Porsche (1998 Arena Red, Savanna beige, only mod was buying a wood shifter). Got me through the 6-month wait. Been a two-seater fan my whole life. Brought the Boxster with no test drive, as you couldn't back then because they sold every single one made toby db997S - 10 years of PB
Standing pressure 37 fronts 44 rears (as indicated on sticker on driver side door jam) on my 2009 911S. The above was taken after about 50 miles of mostly interstate driving on a warm day.by db997S - Main Forum
